According to the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse, part of the National Institutes of Health, constipation is a condition in which you have fewer than three bowel movements in a week, and your stools are hard, dry, and small, making them painful and difficult to pass.
If you feel that you have constipation, do not worry. It is easily treated and is quite common. There are many ways for instant constipation relief that you can follow at home.
Causes Of Constipation
#1. Poor Diet: If your diet mainly consists of foods that are rich in animal fats like dairy products, meats or eggs, chances of constipation increase. These food are low in fiber and do not provide the adequate nutrition.
#2. Inadequate Fluid Intake: If you do not drink enough water, it could lead to dry and hard stools. Water is absorbed by your intestines. If there is not enough water intake, then it will not pass into the colon to make the stools soft.
#3. Caffeine And Alcohol: Caffeine and alcohol increase excretion and thus, water is lost from the body at a rapid rate. This results in dehydration and can lead to constipation when there is not enough water.
#4. Poor Bowel Habits: If you ignore your bowel movements as and when they arise, the cycle of constipation may initiate. It is important that you regularly “relieve” yourself and maintain proper bowel movements.
