Getting braces is a pretty simple and straight-forward process. We get one just to straighten up our teeth. Not only that, braces also help in getting the jaws perfectly aligned along with preventing crooked teeth. If you have any such teeth related issues, braces are the solution. However, the question arises as to what is the right age to get one?

Upon visiting a dentist, he/ she would suggest the types of braces according to the individual requirement. But the need for having braces is very common in kids. So, a child who is between 2 to 4 years of age can start receiving dental services. And as they grow older, problems like teeth crowding becomes pretty apparent. Precisely, what is the best age to wear braces for children? The most effective results of braces can be achieved once the kid is at least 14 years old. This doesn’t obstruct the normal development of teeth. And in case, there is any dysfunction related to teeth, the kid can also undergo braces treatment. The gums and teeth become a little sore after the process (to be precise, one to two weeks). However while getting one, you would not feel any pain.

Types Of Braces

These are the four common types of braces used for both adults as well as kids.

#1. Traditional Metal Braces

These are the most effective braces for kids. Not only are they cheaper but also offer colorful bands that can cheer up kids. But they also restrict eating and make food stick to the metal.

The Invisalign braces could be the best amongst the rest. These are invisible; one can easily drink and eat, the braces are available for teens and cost more than the others.

What Is Phase 1 Of Braces?

The Phase 1 treatment of braces is carried out for moderate and severe cases. The problems where treatment cannot be further delayed or other medications/ methods aren’t working, Phase 1 treatment begins.

Here, the relationship between the lower and upper jaw is strengthened to make way for the eruption of permanent teeth. The child's jaws are developed to make enough room. Early modifications can cause the removal of the adult teeth or cause dental trauma. And Phase 1 treatment can take anywhere between 9 months to 18 months.

The goal is to position the permanent teeth for maximizing their function. Once all of the adult teeth erupt, Phase 2 treatment can be initiated. The treatment is accompanied with Invisalign braces and goes on for about 18 months. The time period spent on full braces reduces and happily lets the teenagers enjoy their age.

Although I've never had braces in my life personally, I can almost say that they won't hurt as much as people think that they do. However, having braces on all the time might get a little uncomfortable.
