How to Increase Fertility?

Getting pregnant might get tricky if your partner’s sperms are slow swimmers or if your menstrual cycles are irregular. If you have been planning to get pregnant, it is important that you have regular ovulation.

Here’s a little guide to all what you need to eat and practice to boost your fertility and ovulation:

How To Make Yourself More Fertile

#1. Balanced Diet

Staying nourished and healthy will help in boosting your chances of conceiving. A diet which includes adequate protein, iron, zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin D is said to be a balanced diet. Deficiency in any of these nutrients can lead to prolonged periods which imply reduced frequency of ovulation. Protein-rich food like meat, fish, low-fat dairy products, eggs, and beans are known as fertility boosters.

#2. Keep A Check On Your Drinking

Alcohol consumption can reduce your ability to get pregnant. It alters the estrogen levels, affecting the process of egg implantation. If you are planning to conceive, then consider cutting down on your caffeine intake. Caffeine does affect female hormones and may cause hindrances in her pregnancy too. Limit your coffee consumption to just one or two cups for improving your fertility.

#3. Stay Away From Weight Gain

Excess body fat can lead to overproduction of certain hormones that interrupts the process of ovulation. It will make your cycles irregular, thus reducing the chances of ovulation. Just because being overweight might cause a problem, losing out in excess weight isn’t the solution. Being underweight would mean that your body is unable to produce sufficient amount of hormones required to sustain your pregnancy in case you have conceived.

#4. No Smoking Please

The toxins and nicotine present in cigarettes can not only damage a woman's eggs by interfering with the processes of fertilization and implantation but can also predict early aging signs of ovaries.

#5. Be Aware Of Your Cycle

A menstrual cycle normally lasts for about 21 to 35 days. A longer cycle, say 42 days or so, would imply lesser ovulation. The fertility window (4-5 days) is the time when ovulation takes place. Ovulation varies from body to body, therefore, assuming that you will ovulate on the 14th day of your cycle will not suffice. Use ovulation test kits to know about your ovulation days and make the best out of it.

#6. Bedroom Is Your Temple

The best way to boost your fertility is by indulging in sexual intercourse more often. Studies suggest that women who are engaged in regular intercourse are more likely to be aware of their menstrual cycles in comparison to the ones who have sporadic sex. According to studies, having sex every one or two days when your fertility window is open, boosts your chances of getting pregnant.
