With the constant struggles happening throughout several countries and simulated nuclear attacks resulting via faulty computer chips, the globe has faced it all.
Therefore, here we take a look back at 7 incidents when the world almost came to an end or situations almost initiated war like conditions.
Take a look:
#1. Bear War - 1962
It was the heightened time of cold war when John F Kennedy informed the country about Soviet missiles being discovered in Cuba. Diplomatic relationships got wrenched, each force was on high alert, and this happened. Alarms got triggered in a Duluth American air base indicating about possible Soviet bombers. It was the most chaotic time in the history. But, yes, this again was a false alarm. Reason? A god damn bear! Somehow he entered into the base and set off all the warning alarms! The bear had no idea that he could have almost killed every being on this planet.

#2. Soviet–Afghan War - 1979
This conflict was a sickening move to threaten the world peace since World War 2. Two world powers involved an overseas body between their conflicts resulting into intensified destruction. The 9-year long Afghan battle included the U.S and UK in financing and arming the Afghan-Mujahideen to fight against local Soviets.

#3. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) Chip Fault - 1980
Here, nuclear weapons might not have been involved, but it had the same potential for destruction. A faulty computer chip triggered a massive nuclear attack. It gave out a false impression of more than 2,000 Soviet missiles being on their way to mass extinction. So, where the algorithm should have read 0000, it read 2222. But the bomber crew was possibly ready to knock out people.

#4. Research Rocket - 1995
In the January of 1995 at Norway, local scientists propelled a research rocket for the sake of studying the aurora borealis. Meanwhile, in Russia, each person was astonished by something that appeared like gigantic nuclear weapons extending towards them. Forces tightened themselves and were ready to target wherever they could. Fortunately, the missile fell into the ocean, forces put away their nuke briefcases and instead fetched delicious sandwiches.

#5. Yeonpyeong Attack - 2010
In November 2010, invasion by the North Korea troops got initiated against South Korea. The Yeonpyeong island was their target, and it wasn't long ago that this battle happened. The Army had launched around 160 missiles to cause extensive damage. Just think about it once, and you'll be able to imagine the condition. This border dispute could have easily escalated into the possibility of World War 3 though later things got sorted. It's tragic and wastage of human life.

#6. 9/11 - 2011
The unfortunate incident of 9/11 (11th September 2001) where the iconic twin towers in the New York city got hit by two airplanes, could have been a conflict giving rise to the World War III. Nuclear terrorism could have been a resultant. But luckily, countries around the world are taking positive measures towards preventing the same!

#7. B-52 Crash near Thule (1968)
It was the B-52 bomber plane that crashed around 7 miles away from its shore in the ice. The fuel and some nuclear compounds exploded but didn’t trigger any important situation. However, if it would have done that, the nearby base was ready for an immediate retaliation. Fortunately, none of it happened!
