The most familiar food eaten in the world is instant noodles. Despite the controversies that surround everyone’s favorite 2-minute noodle, packets keep disappearing off the shelves. Nothing could hinder people from shoving down the infamous food product that studies show is the cause of many health issues.
Apart from its popularity, it's the ease with which these noodles are prepared. Hence, serving as a blessing for those who have a hectic schedule! But is it a blessing?
Let's take a holistic view to examine the good, bad and the ugly side of instant two-minute noodles!
The Good
Let’s start with the good side to this popular choice of food. Firstly, they are easy to cook and true to their name, they are ready to consume in 2 minutes. They are quite delicious to eat and can be cooked without any fuzzy. Thus, if you are short on ingredients, just plain water is enough to make yourself a bowl of noodles. Not just that, this lazy man’s food also comes at a meager price.

The Bad
This fast food, though good in taste, has an adverse consequence on the health. They are low in fiber and protein and high in fat, carbs, sodium and selected micronutrients. If consumed often, they can have an ill effect on the digestive organs resulting in abdominal pain, diarrhea, heart burns, stomach bloating and heaviness, uncomfortable feeling.
Many are of the belief that 2-minute noodles make you feel fuller, thus, preventing you from eating anything else. Leading to believe that they are a good way to lose weight. However, they couldn’t be more wrong.
Constant consumption of such food results in the accumulation of toxins in the body. Therefore, instant noodles, which are rich in unhealthy ingredients, is one of the primary factors that lead to slowing down of the metabolism of the body and gain weight.

The Ugly
Not long ago MSG content in food items was a hot topic of discussion. Monosodium glutamate found in high quantity in instant noodles is one of the leading causes of concern and links to a lot of health issues including kidney failure.
MSG, which is used as an ingredient in this junk food to add a flavor to the dish, is a chemical preservative derived from the petroleum industry. In small limited amounts, this product is virtually harmless and can be a part of the diet. However, Maggi contains a high volume of MSG that could lead to severe effects on the human body, including brain damage, kidney disease, and other illnesses.
Apart from MSG, the presence of wax is another reason by instant noodles are not good for health. Wax is used to prevent the noodles from getting clumped together. The consumption of the same could cause a lot of severe stomach problems.
Last but not the least, instant noodles are processed food with a lot of artificial preservatives added to them. Consumption of any such chemical food for a long time is disastrous for the health!
