You have to make sure that your resume stands out. You have to make sure that you make an impression with your resume so that your employer at least goes through it completely. If this sounds like a dream, have you ever considered making an infographic resume for yourself?

Infographic resumes combine the visual with the readable and let the data out in a more fun and digestible way for its readers. This way, you can make sure that every employer is going to go through your resume. So, what does it take to build a killer infographic resume? Let’s find out.

Start With A Killer Idea

Okay, so just like everything else, you need to have an idea in mind regarding the general look and feel of your resume. What data should you put out and how much of it? You need to understand the different components that can be used in an infographic resume. Some data might be easier to depict using charts while at some places you can simply put pictures. Mind The Colors

Now that you have an idea and you have finalized all the components that you’ll be using, it is time to decide a theme color for your resume. Trust us, the colors that you use will have a staggering effect on the reader and it can actually hook them with your resume for a longer period. However, remember that different colors invoke different feelings, so be very careful before choosing a particular color. Red, for example, depicts intensity and passion while yellow gives out a more cheerful and optimistic touch to things.

Know The Tools

Okay, so now that you have figured out everything, it is finally time to get on making your resume. However, there are certain tools that you need at your disposal. Adobe Photoshop is an obvious choice and is one of the most popular tools that you can choose to convert your idea into reality. However, Photoshop is an expensive software and is also difficult to master quickly. Fortunately, you can rely upon cheaper and easier tools like Canva that have almost the same customizing options and are much easier to use than the Photoshop.

Consider If An Infographic Resume Is The Way To Go

Okay, let’s get a few things clear out in the end. While an infographic resume might look appealing than your generic plain paper resumes, not every employer wants to see on their table. It all really depends on the type of job you’re applying for. For instance, an infographic resume will work like a charm if you’re applying for the post of a graphic designer; however, it may absolutely bomb if you’re applying for a more traditional job, of say, a lawyer.

Always Attach Your Regular Resume

Infographic resumes are not a sure shot to success. They might be attention seekers, but in no way are they crowd pleasers. So, make sure that along with your infographic resume, you send a traditional resume as well. The traditional resume has a charm of its own and can accommodate more details about your academic and professional qualifications.

And Finally…

Remember that there are no fixed rules for getting ahead. Play around with building your infographic resume and see what works best for you. You might not see an instant increase in your success rate at interviews, but then you’ll have an idea of what an employer wants in general. Be adventurous and ready to take risks. Also, embrace failure as it comes to you and just learn from it. Good luck at your next job interview!
