For ages, the Riveras have banned music since they trust they have been reviled by it. As their family history goes, Miguels extraordinary grandfather relinquished his better half Imelda, decades sooner to take after his own particular longs for performing, leaving Imelda to take control as the female authority of the now-flourishing Rivera line and declare music dead to the family until the end of time. In any case, Miguel harbors a mystery desire to grab his musical minute, propelled by his most loved artist ever, the late Ernesto de la Cruz. It is simply after Miguel finds an astounding connection amongst himself and De la Cruz that he makes a move to emulate the well known artist and, in doing as such, accidentally enters the Land of the Dead. In the excellent underworld, its not long until the point when Miguel experiences the souls of his own family ages worth of long-dead yet no less vivacious Rivera ancestors, including extraordinary grandmother Imelda. All things considered, given the chance to meander around the Land of the Dead, Miguel decides to track down De la Cruz himself. He collaborates with another neighborly (and skeletal) soul a swindler named Hector, voiced by Bernal to discover De la Cruz, gain his family's favoring to perform and come back to the Land of the Living before time runs out.
