Britain has decided to introduce a new 12-sided British Pound coin. This development has come in place after it was found that the traditional round pound was very easy to counterfeit. The new coin which was introduced only recently is considered to be the most secure in the world. The new coin also has a hologram which eventually changes from pound to numeral symbol.
The new coin also has a small lettering which can essentially be considered as micro-lettering. The new coin is somewhat larger in diameter than the traditional coin and is lighter in weight than the traditional pound coin.
The new coin has reportedly been tested for the past three years in different vending machines to ensure that it works in different kinds of vending machines. The new and old coin will be in use for another six months. This is the first new pound coin to be introduced in Britain in the last 30 years.
The new coin will be bimetallic and with the outer ring being gold colored and made from nickel-brass. The inner ring will be silver colored and have nickel plated alloy. The new coin with 12 edges will be distinctively shaped and will be recognizable by sight and touch.
