Life in the city of Mumbai

Mumbai is a city of 20 million people. Life is tough in Mumbai with people living in multi-level tenements with many having single bedrooms. Space is a luxury in Mumbai and privacy is something which comes at a hefty price in this city. Life, however, moves on normally in the middle of this hustle and bustle with people traveling the length and breadth of the city for work.

Commuting in the city is a challenge and the Mumbai local train is a key source of their transport. The local train network has three lines, namely central, western and harbor. The trains are jam packed during office hours and those who are not used to this fast paced life find it difficult to adjust to this schedule.

Most of the offices in Mumbai are located in Nariman Point, Cuffe Parade as also in Bandra and Andheri. Only a fraction of the population is lucky enough to save themselves from the hassles of traffic while others have to brush it out in the maddening crowd to make it to their office on time.

The dabbawalas also add a distinct flavor to the city as they carry fresh food from homes to offices spread across the city and ensure that people get home made food well in time.

As the evening sets in, people in the city head to Marine Drive Chowapatty to spend some moments of pleasure with their family and friends.
