Where is Singapore? What is it Famous for?

Officially known as the Republic of Singapore, it is a sovereign city-state, the only island city-country in the world. It found independence in 1965 after being a colonial trading post for the British. It consists of a diamond-shaped main island along with more than 60 other small and large islands.

Where Is It Located?

Singapore is located in Southeast Asia at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, east of West Sumatra in Indonesia. It is about 85 miles from the equator.

Financial Achievements

Within just a few decades of independence, Singapore has emerged as the most prominent financial centers in the world, boasting one of the highest per-capita GDPs. It has one of the highest concentrations or percentages of millionaires, with approximately one in every six households having a disposable wealth of a million dollars. It also has a commendable rank in terms of technology, education, quality of life and healthcare. In addition to that, it also has one of the highest life-expectancy rates in the world and is consistently positioned in the top three.

Tourist Destination

Nothing about Singapore is as significant as tourism. Thronged by millions of visitors every year from all parts of the world, Singapore is among the most visited cities in the world. From couples looking for a lavish romantic escapade and families in search for a fun-filled quality time together to solo travelers seeking to indulge in vibrant nightlife and foodies who wish to sample a flavorsome cuisine, Singapore is frequented by one and all. Not to forget, the archipelago is also a melting pot of cultures; hence, a dream destination for many culture enthusiasts.
