Where is Yellowstone National Park?

Have you heard of Yellowstone National Park? Do you know what it is? It's among the plethora of other National Parks that add to the diversity of the country and serve as a great tourism spot. Leading us to wonder why do we have so many National Parks in the US? 

Well, we have a multitude of reasons to develop national parks. They support various plants and animals surviving on our planet, even those who stay in remote areas. These parks provide animals with a sense of security and let them survive the way they want. Also, by visiting these parks, we are informed about so many animals and plants which we thought didn't exist. Therefore, we must try our level best to keep them safe. Coming back to the primary question, do you know where Yellowstone National Park is? Let's explore the answer to that!

The famed national park is located in the three states of the United States such as Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, although the official address is that of Wyoming as a major chunk of the park is situated there. 

It has five entrances, and eight visitors developed areas along with visitor centers, museums, and lodging. The park is huge, and it’s always better to decide what you choose to see and find out which entrance is closest to the sight than exploring the entire national park. Mind you! All gates to the park are open during the summer season only. Vehicles do not gain access during the winters in certain parts of the national park. Also, many facilities have season based openings and closings. So, you better get your vehicles ready if you plan to visit that place anytime soon because there is no shuttle bus service.

It was the first national park in the United States and of the world. The park is widely known for its wildlife and its innumerable geothermal areas. ‘Old Faithful geyser’ is one of them and comes under the popular category over there. Also, it has a lot of ecosystems, and the ‘Subalpine’ forest is in abundance. 

It is said that Native Americans have lived in this national park for almost eleven years. Organized exploration did not begin until the late 1860s apart from visits from mountain men in the early to mid nineteenth century. The park spans an area of 3,468.4 square miles having lakes, rivers, canyons and mountain ranges. Also, ‘Yellowstone Lake’ is considered as the largest elevated lake in North America and is centered over ‘Yellowstone Caldera’ which is the largest active volcano on the continent.

Going back to the history, nearly one-third of the park was burnt in the largest forest fires of 1988 although forest fires occur each year. The park has the most abundant fauna in the continental United States. Animals ranging from grizzly bears, wolves, elk to herds of bison reside in the park.

Some Interesting facts about the place:

#1. Have patience before you leave for the trip to the national park. Thousands of people are said to visit the park during the months of June, July, and August. It’s a huge place with loads of road traffic.

#2. Do not land yourself into an inevitable problem while trying to click selfies with animals!

#3. If you wish to get a view of early birds, then try visiting the park in the non-peak hours that is before 3 pm and 9 am. Also, do keep the non-peak seasons in mind, such as April/May and September/October.

#4. Bears habitat in the entire park so be careful while traveling in the bear county.

#5. Some essential services such as call service and bandwidth may not be accessible in the region. Thus, don’t panic when you don’t receive calls or text messages!
