Humans are filled with emotions. We have an emotion for each and every situation. The most dominant emotions are joy and sorrow. Humans are susceptible to crying. We cry in times of happiness and in times of sadness. Anything and everything can trigger tears in humans. The human crying psychology is a bit complex.
Crying when sad is normal or even getting tears of joy happens to all of us. But there are so many other situations that make us cry. Like have you ever wondered why we cry when we yawn or why do we cry when we poop. Yes! Crying after pooping is extremely common. Let’s have a look at the reasons why humans cry.
Sadness is the most common reason why humans cry. You might get upset when things don’t go the right way, or you have lost a loved one. There are many reasons why a person gets sad. And most of these reasons result into crying. Crying is a way of expressing your sadness. You let your emotions flow, and it actually makes you feel better and lighter instantly. Crying is considered to be a great stress buster. But this does not mean that you cry every time you feel stressed. Our brain is wired in such a way, that even a hint of sadness can initiate the waterworks.

Laughing out loud can also start the waterworks. When we laugh too much, the muscles near our eyes stretch and tears come rolling down. This is the only explanation to why we cry when we laugh so much. When you laugh out loud, your whole body gets worked up including your facial muscles. These facial muscles stretch and make you cry even when you are laughing.

Getting teary-eyed when you yawn is a common phenomenon. When you yawn way too much, the muscles near your eyes get stretched, and you cry. When you yawn with a wide-mouth open, it puts a pressure on your lacrimal glands. These glands produce tears. When there is an extreme pressure on these glands, excessive tears are produced naturally.

There are no records for how long a person can cry. It depends on the person and the reason they are crying on. If you are mourning the loss of someone, you may cry for days or weeks. But if you are crying because of laughter, it is mostly for a shorter time period. Crying lets you connect with your inner-self, and you get to know about yourself on a deeper level.
