But did you know lately there has been news spread in the press about Sridevi being the first choice for the role of Sivagami.
When tried to inquire about it a source very close to the Bahubali team said, “We respect Srideviji a lot. And yes, she was the first choice for Sivagami. This was very early in the project. But when we approached her, her husband Boney Kapoor quoted a staggering fee. Plus he wanted a share of the Bahubali profits. We immediately dropped the idea, though we were very keen on casting Srideviji. Later we came to know she did a Tamil film (Puli) where she was given the fee that her husband wanted.”
The Source is extremely glad that Ramya Krishnan did the role of Sivagami. He said, “We can’t imagine anyone else playing Sivagami. And we feel it is in very bad taste for an actor to talk about a role that he or she did not do. By doing so, the actor who did the role is belittled.”

Yes, I am well aware that Sridevi was first choice of the Director SS Rajamouli for the role of Sivagami in Bahubali. But Sridevi refused playing this role as the filmmakers were not able to meet her remuneration demands.
Sridevi asked for Rs 6 crore for the role of Sivagami, while Ramya delivered superb performance at just Rs 2.5 crore.
Yes, I know that Sridevi was the first choice to play Sivagami in Bahubali. But she refused to play that character and she was dropped from Bahubali franchise.
