Phillauri: Won’t be able to handle stardom like Salman-Shah Rukh, says Anushka
Anushka Sharma has emerged as one of the most successful young stars of Bollywood but she says she cannot imagine herself handling the stardom the way Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan do.
Anushka, who made her debut with Shah Rukh in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, went on to star opposite Aamir Khan in PK and Salman in last year’s blockbuster Sultan.
Phillauri box office collection Day 4: Anushka Sharma's film is already making profits
All eyes were on Anushka Sharma's second production venture Phillauri, after her first production, NH10, got a lot of acclaim. Despite the heavy #ShashiWasThere marketing campaign, the film was off to a slow start, raking in only Rs 9.22 crore in the first two days. According to estimates, the film witnessed growth on Sunday, making approximately Rs 6.25 crore at the box office.
The supernatural drama is directed by debutante director Anshai Lal and stars Suraj Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh and Mehreen Pirzada, apart from Anushka. The film revolves around a manglik NRI Kanan (Suraj) who inadvertently finds himself with a 'bride' in the form of a spirit named Shashi (Anushka) after he is forced to marry a tree which she happened to reside in.
Phillauri is set in the Punjabi town of Phillaur, and much of the film's collections are coming from the North. With regional fare like Katamarayudu and Kadugu ruling the box office down South, the business of Phillauri has taken a hit in those parts.
However, Phillauri has already become a profitable proposition, even with its slow start, as it reportedly made Rs 12 crore, from satellite and music rights even before its release
Petitioners drag Anushka's Phillauri to court, get fined Rs 5 lakh instead.
A bunch of producers filed a petition at the Bombay High Court stating that Phillauri has been copied from their film. The court fined them Rs 5 lakh because of wasting its time. The Bombay High Court recently came down heavily on the makers of Gujarati film Mangal Fera. The makers of the movie, Gayatri Cine Production were of the view that their script was copied by the makers of Phillauri which is due to release this weekend.
Gayatri Cine Production, along with its representatives Gayatri and Dashrath Rathod had filed the petition on Saturday last week and had reached court to ask if they can serve the notice to the other side that is Fox Star Studios, Phillauri actor and producer Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh along with their company Clean state films and the film's writer Anvita Dutt Guptan.
Advocate Nagesh Mishra representing the petitioners sought permission to move the court asking for a stay on the release of the film Philauri.
"Justice G S Patel said that we cannot move the court when the film is so close to releasing. He did not just dismiss the case but also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh for wasting time of the court," said Mishra.
The film Mangal Fera was first made in Gujarati and then in Bhojpuri and Bengali. The plot of the film according to the petitioners revolves around a woman who is manglik. In Hindu astrology, a manglik is a person who is born at a time that has the unique placement of Mars (Mangal) in an astrological combination.
