How well do you know yourself? Do you what kinds of people attract you? Are you someone who would prefer a date with Elon Musk over Tom Cruise?
In retrospect, if all your answers were a yes, then you’re a sapiophile. This is a rare breed of people who prefer the adage of "brains over beauty."
Let’s know about these kinds of people and look at their character traits closely. This way, you can assess if you’re a sapiophile or not. Take a look:
Sapiophiles, or commonly known as sapiosexuals, are people who believe that intelligence is the most beautiful trait in a person. It’s not like they aren’t appreciative of physical beauty, but they would rather prefer hanging out with people who are intelligent.

While the concept of attraction towards intelligence has been known since a long time, the term sapiosexual or sapiophile have gained prominence only recently. As a result, many people don’t exactly know what makes a sapiophile. So, let’s look at some certified traits of sapiosexuals.
Okay, for you to be able to appreciate someone else’s brain, you have to be intelligent yourself. Remember the two nerds of class in high school who used to hang out a lot? Chemistry taught us that like substances dissolve like substances, and that is every bit true in this case. Intelligent people like hanging out with people of the same intellect.

Would your romantic getaway be reading Shakespeare and decoding the meaning of each sentence rather than simply indulging in an intimate encounter? If that is the case, then you’re a certified sapiosexual. It’s not like these people don’t want intimate moments, but these moments don’t fall on the top of their priorities.
One major thing that being intelligent provides you is that it makes you feel empowered. You like people who feel empowered enough to have conversations with other people and can send their point across without much fear or prejudice. You love listening and indulging in conversations of politics and other global affairs.

While a bad breath or sweat might turn some people off, the biggest thing that puts you off is bad grammar. You have your ‘grammar-filter’ turned on all the time, and are often the first people to correct someone’s wrong grammar.
You despise the mere thought of blatant ignorance and you absolutely hate people who can get ignorant towards things. When some high headed guy/girl comes to flirt with you, there is no way that you’re going to get impressed. You can never picture yourself with ignorant people no matter how attractive they are.
While a good sense of humor always helps you in getting along with your partner, sapiophiles carve for a deeper version of it. You are not impressed with just any joke until it is so smart that it turns you on. You prefer hanging out with people who can pass witty remarks, and crack extremely smart and bright jokes.

Your perfect date doesn’t include going to bars, clubs or posh restaurants for that matter. You wish to connect with your partner on a much deeper level and have endless conversations with them. You would rather go to a book fair together than going to a bar.
