Basic differences between Eastern and Western values

The dichotomy between Eastern and Western values are even more intrigue than geographical differences.

While Asia, including the Middle East epitomizes the Eastern world, the Western world is represented by European and North American nations.

One of basic differences between the two is individualism versus collectivism. While west stands for individualism, the east accentuates on collectivism. This is the reason behind the existence of the concept of joint-families in eastern nations.

While workers from the east always suffer from job insecurity, workers from the west enjoy more security in their professions.

People from the eastern countries are also not very transparent in their thoughts compared to their western counterparts. People from the west have more extrovert and progressive temperament and outlook.

There is also a huge difference in the managerial skills between the two sides. While west is more task specific to a greater extend, the east is inclined in favor of doing work only when required.

The sublime or transcendental attitudes towards love in the east and the west are totally different. People from the east consider love as mute or immaterial, while their western peers deem love as vocal and material.

Moreover eastern people mostly would choose their marriage partners on basis of to their educational, societal and financial background. Western people hardly ever get married before they make certain if they are in love with one another.

The morality values among the eastern on social taboos such as sex, homosexuality, live-in relations is mostly conservative, whereas most of the westerns are more liberal and progressive on such issues.
