No matter if we love it or despise it, studying can at times become quite a task. Repeatedly going over the same old process, following the same rules without much renovation or innovation can seriously tire out anyone! The monotony will not only make the practice less interesting but also cause immense disinterest and a complete lack of enthusiasm; eventually leading to lesser motivation and thus, lower grades.

It is often suggested by professionals and other guidance counselors that to help cope with a stressful academic environment, students must involve a few creative twists in their learning techniques. These twists would help in perking up their daily tedious routines and ensure that they are engaging in a more effective learning system. This would enable them to maintain a healthy balance between being educated and being removed from stress.
So can we do what it takes? Let us go ahead and find out!
Flashcards and posters are great tools for enhancing one’s learning experience. Use colorful flags, markers and diagrams to brighten up your dull notes. You can hang makeshift posters around your room or carry the handy flashcards around for a quick peek or revision all day long.

b. Treat yourself with rewards
It is highly believed that students fair better if a reward waits at the end of a lesson. The anticipation of being rewarded (or in other cases, punished) works in the psyche of the individual enabling them to study better for their respective tests.

c. Take small breaks every other hour
Studying for too long at a stretch can not only create stress but also hinder the effectiveness of the learning process. So it is indeed essential that one makes sure to take little breaks now and then. Call a friend, listen to some music, (throw in a few moves!) or best go out for a little walk. Also mandatory is that this break is devoid of any discussion regarding the concerned lesson. This is to ensure that when he goes back to studying, it is with a renewed focus and determination.

d. You could do with a change of location
Sometimes studying in the exact spot for months and weeks can unknowingly bore your mind and your body. So try changing your studying spot once in a while. From the usual room to maybe another or even the library perhaps? Nothing elaborate.

e. Transform your own study material into music lyrics
This is a trick that I have used far too many times. And YES, IT WORKS! Converting material into the words of popular tunes could help remembering little details better because you would no longer be recalling a difficult formula but a favorite song.
Now some might say collaboration is a workplace skill and to some extent it may be; however, my decades of experience working suggests that workers by training, education, and working hard can move themselves into worker groups with higher achievers a lot of the time so having your own work adversely impacted when collaboration is required isn't necessarily a work related skill that needs to be assessed in school.
I also don't trust teachers to assess students based on their imagination. Right now, too many teachers are giving grades on creativity to avoid telling the students that there work product is just bad overall. These grades are often meaningless. If the teachers actually graded more on an entire work product, too many students would fail.
And with technology, there are lots of jobs that don't require imagination anymore because computers will give a limited number of choices.
