Snapchat is a mobile app that allows users to send and receive "self-destructing" photos and videos. Photos and videos taken with the app are called snaps. Snapchat uses the device's camera to capture snaps and Wi-Fi technology to send them. The app allows the sender to draw or insert text on the snap and determine how many seconds (one to infinite) the recipient can view it before the file disappears from the recipient's device. Messages can only be viewed once - and during the viewing period, the recipient must maintain contact with the device's touch screen or the snap disappears.
Facebook is a popular free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles, upload photos, and video, send messages and keep in touch with friends, family, and colleagues. The site is available in 37 different languages. Recently Facebook introduced stories feature in its app. Many complained that Facebook has copied this story feature from Snapchat.
However, there are some differences between Facebook stories and Snapchat stories.
#1. Reasons To Use Snapchat
Snapchat gives its users many reasons that have made them loyal users of the app. It takes its Privacy Policy seriously. Your data is deleted as soon as it’s seen, and there’s no tracking. In Snapchat, there are no complicated settings to worry about. Snapchat has one of the simplest video calling. There is a Discover Feature. This is still new and you can use the Discover section to get up and running with what’s going on around you. There’s Yahoo! News, CNN, and more. Snapchat’s own channel will tell you about 3 hot conversation topics for the day.

#2. Reasons To Use Facebook
As compared to Snapchat, there are a few other features that Facebook has up its ally. “Marketplace” allows a member to post, read and respond to classified ads. “Groups” allows members who have common interests to find each other and interact. “Events” allows a member to publicize an event, invite guests and track who plans to attend. “Pages” allows members to create and promote a public page built around a specific topic. “Presence technology” allows members to see which contacts are online and can chat.

#3. Snapchat vs. Facebook Users
Snapchat’s users are mostly millennials whereas Facebook users are from all age groups. If statistics are to be considered, then Facebook has a user-base of about 467+ million whereas Snapchat has a user-base of around 87+ million.

#4. Differences Between Facebook Stories And Snapchat Stories
The two operate roughly the same, with the most noticeable difference being that with Facebook Stories, you swipe up and down instead of left and right to access and use the filters. In the coming months, Facebook also plans on allowing people to make their own frames and effects, allowing for an even more personalized experience. However, all in all, Facebook and Snapchat Stories seem to work in basically the same way. Snapchat draws the younger crowds of social media users, while Facebook has largely lost their attention. But with this new feature, more people have an excuse to share more on FB, welcoming in a breed of users who typically reserve pictures of their food and pets for Instagram and Snapchat.

#5. Facebook vs. Snapchat
The battle of the apps is an ongoing one and each one tries to outdo the other one. The debate about which is a better social media platform will go on for some time. Users of both the apps sing praises about their beloved app. It is totally up to the user which social media platform they prefer over the other. It is a matter of preference and usage that differentiates both these social media platforms.
