Tourett e’s syndrome is a disorder that gets initiated during the childhood years only.
One of the major symptoms of Tourett e’s syndrome is that the child suffers from tics. This is a movement of sound which gets repeated again and again over the time.
This, however, gets associated with several other problems which are particularly related to behavioral disorders. However, this syndrome can be treated with medication over a period.
In simpler terms, Tourett e’s syndrome can be considered as repeated blinking of the eyes or throat cleaning multiple times. This syndrome lasts around a year, if it occurs in childhood. This syndrome is named after Dr. Georges Gilles de la Tourette who named this condition in 1885.
The real cause of Tourett e’s syndrome is not known though genetics, neurological and environmental aspects have been cited as different reasons for the occurrence of this syndrome. Abnormalities in human genes are however considered to be the most common reason of occurrence of this syndrome.
Sometimes some minor defects in working of brain also lead to occurrence of Tourett e’s syndrome. Problems during pregnancy have also been associated with occurrence of this syndrome condition. This syndrome occurs in 1 in every 100 children and is thus very prevalent.
