How are celebrity accounts on Twitter and Facebook 'verified'?

A verification of a celebrity account is very much mandatory as there are lots of impostors on the run on the internet. Once the celebrity accounts in Facebook and Twitter have been verified a blue badge   [ ] is placed next to the name of the account holder which clearly indicates that the account is authentic. Let us get to know the process of verification. In both the social sites, the first step would be to create an account and log in.

Facebook:

• 1. Then go to the general account settings, click learn more.
• 2. In the help center, type how to verify my account?
• 3. Click the verify profiles and pages link.
• 4. Click verification link.
• 5. Once this is done, wait for three hours.
• 6. After three hours, if the account is authentic, the blue badge would be placed next to the profile name.
• 7. But “Right now, we're not accepting requests for the gray verification badge in your region” is the message that we would get for our region.

• Twitter:

1. A requisition for verification needs to be sent by filling up a form for which one needs to be logged in.
2. Then a response will be provided through the email.
3.  First and foremost, we need to provide the mobile number which will be verified by sending a verification code through SMS.
4. Then the email address will be scrutinized wherein a confirmation link needs to be clicked.
5. A profile picture needs to be uploaded which would be cross checked.
6. If it is a company, the website would be checked.
7. If the request is from an individual, an identification proof like a passport or driving license needs to be provided for them to verify. No need to panic as once verified, this information will be deleted.
8. If at all the request was rejected, another request can be sent after a month’s time.
