Natural methods are the best when it comes to your hair and scalp. I have experimented with many home remedies and I have a few favorites. My hair type is fine and wavy with dry scalp. Let’s jump into my personal favorite most trusted methods;
1. Lemon juice mixed with lukewarm coconut oil is the best method - Method: Mix half a lemon juice in lukewarm coconut oil, apply so as to cover the whole scalp, put on a shower cap, wait for 2 hrs then shampoo it out. Works for all hair types!
2. Apple cider vinegar rinse (ACV) - Method: Shampoo your hair, don't condition. Rinse your hair with ACV + water (in the ratio of 1:9 respectively) and you can leave it on your hair just like that. It maintains your scalp's serum pH which specially helps the oily scalp to get rid of dandruff. But it works for my hair type as well.
3. Oil - Use organic coconut/olive oil with few drops of Neem (Indian lilac) oil and camphor (1 - 2 gm) - Method: Mix the warm oil, neem oil and camphor powder and use it to massage your scalp, let it stay for 2 hours under a shower cap and then shampoo it out. Apply twice a week. Not applying oil in your scalp also may cause your scalp to dry out and cause dandruff.
4. Henna hair pack - Method: Henna pack works for me as I like that little hint of the color of henna on my hair. I soak the henna powder just 3-4 hrs before application with warm water (you can soak it overnight with normal water). Just before application, I add lemon juice to get rid of dandruff. Use this once a month.
Try these and I'm sure you won't require any other researches at least for getting rid of dandruff.
5 important ways to prevent dandruff from occurring again-
1. Consume Amla (Indian gooseberry) juice with warm water daily as you need to eat right to get healthy hair and scalp.
2. Too much shampoo, conditioners, hair sprays can cause a build up on your scalp leading to dandruff.
3. In Pranayam, Anulom Vilom is generally helpful for preventing hair fall, dandruff, and hair regrowth. Do 10 minutes daily.
4. Too much dandruff blocks the blood supply to your hair. To help you with that, there are some Yogasanas which are beneficial like shirshasan or/and sarvangasan to increase the blood supply of your scalp thus helping in proper hair growth (Note: These asanas should not be done by patients with high B.P. or heart patients or old aged people.
5. Last but not the least take food rich in Vitamin B, Vitamin C, and Iron daily to help you on the nutritional front.
