Alankrita Srivastava's 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' is releasing after much controversy with the censor board over the content and the subject of the movie. Challenging the stereotypes of the society, the drama should serve as a good deviation from mainstream movies.

However, the climax could surely have been better! The filmmaker could have at least let the ladies live their “lipstick wale sapne” in a reel, because that seldom happens in real, especially for women residing in small towns.

The statement comes after CBFC has refused to certify Lipstick Under My Burkha, for its reported sexual scenes, abusive words and audio pornography. The movie’s trailer had garnered praises from film fraternity for depicting the secrets of small-town women.
The CBFC chief said to ANI that while he supports women empowerment, he doesn’t believe that the film is taking the right approach. He also said that he would “not succumb to social media pressure.”
The Central Board of Film Certification has refused to certify Lipstick Under My Burkha because it is lady-oriented movie.
