#1. Sumo Wrestlers Make Babies Cry As A Tradition In Japan
There is a 400-year-old Japanese tradition at the Nakizumo festival which is believed to bring good health to the infants. About 100 kids are handed over to the wrestlers who hold them tightly and make sounds to make the baby cry. The one who howls first is the winner. Purely cruel!

Japanese believe in taking things a notch higher, even with their mannequins. The shopping malls have strange looking mannequins which stand awkwardly. To foreigners, they a gift like soul- wrenching ghosts.

Halloween in Japan does not follow the traditional trick or treat ritual because they are strongly against causing trouble to anyone by going to their house and asking for a treat. Instead, it is all about adults who love to dress-up. It is more like a costume party which focuses on serving alcohol.

#4. You Can Rent A Love Hotel
Japan’s history of building Love hotels can be traced back to the early Edo Period. They are mostly used for prostitution and by lovers. The rooms in these hotels are charged by the hour and are usually theme based. Few of these hotels even have multi-level lodgings. One cannot make advance reservations in these hotels. Travelers also find cheap accommodations at these hotels.

#5. Business Men Can Sleep Anywhere. Anytime.
Japanese businessmen are called as Salary men. They work for large corporations for insane hours in a day, keeping them exhausted for almost all their life. All a salary man can do is work and live. Hence they have the right to sleep anywhere and anytime. In fact, taking a nap while at work is considered good because it indicates that the person is working too hard.

#6. Louder the Sound, Tastier the Food.
In all countries of the world, it is taught to not make any sounds while eating, but it does not hold true for Japan. Slurping is considered good in Japan. Noodles, especially, soba (buckwheat), is slurped loudly when eaten. It indicates that the food is delicious. Does that sound like an interesting way to give compliments to the chef?

Yes, it is true that the Japanese even have high- tech toilets. Japanese have two styles of toilets; a simple squat toilet and the modern Western-type flush toilets and urinals. The Western-style toilets or the bidet toilets that include many advanced features. The feature set comprises of anus washing, bidet washing, seat warming, and deodorization. Vending machines in Japan are quite the thing. With an insane number of machines installed over every street, they produce almost every consumable item possible ranging from a simple drink to can bread to even video game piracy cartridges. #9. KFC Is Japan’s Christmas Food
Japan doesn’t traditionally celebrate Christmas and in fact, call it a working day. KFC outlets became popular among foreigners because only they served whole chicken or turkey elsewhere. Japanese caught up with the trend eventually.
