The job although difficult is not unlikely and to actually hit a cord with your team and reach new heights is by making use of the following techniques:
#1. Be a great listener
Most managers are only seen as superiors and not mentors or teachers because they fail at this fundamental step. To make your team perform better, you need to know them well; this happens only when you listen to them. Communicate at a personal level and understand what motivates them individually, once you have got a grasp of that, you can get them to give their best.

#2. Build a great team
You are the decision maker, and it’s you who decides which person can make it on board. Use this power well and get those who you think will be the perfect ones to create a good team. Don’t forget your performance is also based on how well your team performs so don’t ever compromise there.

#3. Frequent but not unnecessary meetings
Meetings are critical to get the team together and understand the task at hand and how to work on it. It is also a crucial time when everyone can put forward their ideas and come up with strategies to improve the performance of the company. The purpose of any meeting though falls flat in the face if it doesn’t have an agenda or you have failed to convey other members what they need to bring to the table. To avoid this, it is integral that every meeting has a strong agenda and basis that can be discussed upon.

#4. Get inspired
Your team looks up to you for inspiration but even you need a motivating factor that enhances your work and makes you better at what you are doing. Being a manager is a challenging job, and if you don’t focus on yourself, chances are you will fizzle out. When the strain of work takes over, you become more temperamental and snap at people easily. This trait, unfortunately, pervasive with a lot of managers disturbs their work ethics and forever spoils their relationship with their employees. To prevent this from happening, take out time to do what makes you happy and inspired.

#5. Work on yourself
It is important for every leader to be self-critical to have a good perspective of where you stand and where you are lagging behind. It will help you to realize where you went wrong and how you can avoid those mistakes in the future. Self-criticism, of course, means constructive criticism about you and to actually understand your weakness and strengths.
