What is Alchemy?

Alchemy As Craft

The term aims to hurtle perfection be it outer or inner and apart from that, it includes deification of matter and mankind.  And, the notion does not sound weird to a crafts person. According to Paracelsus, he creates something similar to heaven.  

The term ‘Alchemy’ means ‘Becoming .' We must also know that its process can be shown through traditional formulas of initiation which is none other than suffering, death, and resurrection of the god represented by the materials used by the craftsman.  Be it purification or separation, both of them must have a suffering. Also, crafts person needs a lot of patience in the final process which is the greater suffering.

We must also know that the artist’s materials are also punished just like the alchemical substance in a way where there is pounded clay, beaten flax, teased, twisted wool and more. Every substance needs to change its form, be it material or human to get transformed into something else. A substance has to die to take rebirth.

Alchemy As Science

In scientific term, it is understood as the science of the soul from the comprehension of God, beautiful environment and mankind. Three of them are inter -related and therefore knowledge of one would not help in attaining the knowledge of the other two. They are inextricable. Apart from being an intellectual science, it is a spiritual one too because one who is in the hands of spirits can be associated spiritually.  Also, it deals with material things.

When alchemy is in its material form, it educates us on how minerals, animals and more are sprouted from their seeds. In lay man’s words, it talks about how a generation, which is achieved in a long time in due course of action of evolution and law of nature, can be achieved in a small time if the laws of nature are given proper materials by the man having enough spiritual knowledge. The alchemist can formulate gold with his alchemical efforts and a person who is gravitated towards the material power of gold; he cannot attain spiritual power anyway.

Alchemy As Art

It is art as well. Since we know that every form of art requires a crafts person to work on it similarly both art and divine science can be worked upon by those people who have the power of the divine required to fulfill the aim. Also, it is noted that external manipulations are needed for producing some related alchemical preparations such as ordinary chemical process can be tutored to anybody whose efficient in reasoning.
