Hypersomaia is more or less the opposite of insomnia. The people who have a problem in waking up at the day time tend to have a disease which is called Hypersomnia. If you are either sleeping too much at night or having trouble while keeping yourself wake up at the daytime, you probably have Hypersomnia. Over the population of the globe, more than 35 to 40% of the people are having the symptoms of Hypersomnia. These people never have a fixed amount of sleep. Head injuries can cause Hypersomnia, also drugs and alcohol can be a reason behind having this disease. Brain tumor and other brain and pathological disease can also be a cause root of Hypersomnia. As insomnia actually does not have a treatment, Hypersomnia also does not have a fixed conclusion. But doctors can provide medicines in order to make you stay awake.

Hypersomnia is a condition in which a person feels sleepiness excessively even after having a full sleep. Hypersomnia is also called Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). People who have hypersomnia find it difficult to function during the day because they are always feeling sleepy and tired. There are two kinds of hypersomnia. One is primary hypersomnia and other is Secondary hypersomnia. The Primary hypersomnia is thought to be caused by problems in the brain systems that control sleep and waking functions. There are other causes for hypersomnia like being overweight, drug or alcohol abuse, a head injury or a neurological disease, prescripotion drugs such as tranquilizers or antihistamines, genetics, depression and sleep disorders like narcolepsy and sleep apnea. It could also be due to lack of sleep or deprivation of sleep.
The doctors will prescribe medications for hypersomnia and it is advised that one does not try to treat themselves without full knowledge and precautions. The doctors will suggest stimulants, antidepressants and other medicines. If one wants to tackle the problem of sleepiness then they should try to get enough sleep. Try to go to bed on time and avoid taking caffeine or alcohol. Doctors also recommend a high-nutrition diet to maintain energy levels naturally.
