We thank you for posting your query on our website. A Web filter, which is commonly referred to as "content control software," is a piece of software designed to restrict what websites a user can visit on his or her computer. Schools use web filters to restrict the information a student can access. It has both the pros and cons. Students may access some illegal websites or adult content on the system and to prevent that the school authorities use web filters. Sometimes these web filters become too restrictive when a child has to research about a project. They cannot access full information because of the filters.
Websites related to music and social media are blocked so that students do not waste their time surfing useless things. Teenagers at school are inclined to try out new things, and they may wish to access pornographic websites which are not suitable for young audiences. It can impose a threat to their personality because children do not know what is right and wrong for them. By getting influenced by someone older, they may indulge in things that can land them in trouble. A lot of websites online have malware threat, and a child wouldn’t know whether they should use it or not. They may harm the school’s system, and the viruses can attack all the systems as they are all inter-connected. It could cost the school a huge amount as a lot of hackers hack the website and ask for ransom. A lot of games that are a threat to young children are available on internet like the blue whale game which provokes a child to commit suicide. It is, therefore, very significant to apply web filters.
The fact that web filters become too restrictive cannot be denied either. They do not allow a child to surf easily and freely for their projects. Some information is also available on websites like YouTube and such websites are blocked by the system. Children cannot quench the curiosity in their minds because of such filters. It makes a hindrance to the progress of their assignments, and it angers the kids. The teachers as well cannot get all the information because of which they cannot make the students understand better in the classroom. The teachers need information through the internet as well and when the teacher cannot get a hold of important data then how will students learn.
The systems are installed for the student’s knowledge. The web filters deny the students extra knowledge. There should be appropriate filters in school systems. Students should be given access to some websites that are informative so that they can learn more. Teachers should keep an eye on what the children surf the internet for their safety, and the students should understand their responsibilities.

The web or the privacy filters that are done in the computers of the schools are restrictive of course. However, I suppose it is certainly for the good of the students at a certain level. The most stupid thing to do would be blocking each and every social networking website. I believe it should be done but for a specific group of students. For example, the students from primary classes can use a web restrictive internet website and the students from the senior secondary can use the less restricted filter. Web filters in the school is tolerated by everyone though, but I believe the students from secondary and senior secondary are mature and developed enough to understand what is bad and what is good for them. However, I still believe that it is important for the primary students as far as school premises are concerned. So they aren't that restricted I suppose.
Students often need to do a lot of projects in school and need to surf some websites in order to get the information important for the content. But having a restriction on the websites you can open the school systems makes it difficult for us to get the correct details about the topic. At times, we have to struggle a lot with finding the right platform as the most informative one turns out to be restricted. Most of us avoid using the systems of school to make presentations that are given to us. We have to wait till we can get back home and use all the websites to get articles. The students who do not have a computer and internet at home face the most problem and have to adjust the school given authority on the internet. There are a lot of famous sites that were prevented, such as YouTube, Buzzfeed, Wattpad, Tetris, Instagram, Google Translate and even Wikipedia. And everybody begrudged how filters hindered their capacity to do an online study on a variety of subjects. It’s suppression when you can’t enter more than a some of the news sites and some merely informative, not opinion-based sites. One of my classmates was working on a project on a video game and he could not get to any site that was accessible that would talk about that game. The site which had the game itself was also banned on the system. Finally, he decided to change his topic of research. That is how bad the restriction is in our school. The other time I was studying birth control for my science class and it took me so long than it should have to conclude my composition because the web filter wouldn’t let me start any websites. We cannot even access the websites about breast cancer or sexual abuse as they have the censored words breast and sexual. These restrictions should be removed so that we can use the internet freely and make assignments without going through much hassle. banning all these sites does not help the children in the world in school. We can’t study about being competent searchers for knowledge that is required for projects, homework, and classwork.
