Are Women employees safe @ their work places in terms of sexual harrasment?

Sexual harassment is workplace is a serious issue that makes women’s involvement in works unsafe and affects the right to work with dignity. It is an unwelcome verbal, visual or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is severe and affects working conditions or creates a hostile work atmosphere.

A survey has found that every 1 in a 3 women between 18 to 34 ages has been sexually harassed at work. Cosmopolitan surveyed approx 2,235 full time and part time female employees and found that one in three women have experienced sexual harassment at work at some point in their lives. 

Though how much ever awareness related to this misconduct at workplace has been spread, sexual harassment hasn’t gone anywhere it’s just taken on new forms. Out of the women who said they’ve experienced workplace sexual harassment, 29 percent reported the issue while 71 percent did not. According to the survey, the field with the highest levels of reported sexual harassment is food and service hospitality.

Getting a job is tough for woman in India. For many, though, finding one is only the beginning of the nightmare.
