China has said that the visit of Dalai Lama to Arunanchal Pradesh is a serious breach of trust between two countries and it will seriously impact the relation between both the nations. India has however stuck to its position that this visit was purely a religious visit and China had nothing to do with it.
Gopal Baglay, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson has said that Dalai Lama is a religious leader and has visited Arunanchal Pradesh earlier also on numerous occasions. The spiritual leader is on a nine-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh and reached Bomdila in West Kameng on 5th April.
The Chinese officials have said that allowing Dalai Lama to visit Arunanchal Pradesh, India has worked against the spirit of togetherness with China and it will only harm India in the long run. China claims Arunachal Pradesh to be a part of South Tibet and says that by allowing Dalai Lama to visit this region, India is not doing any good.
India, however, asserts that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and China does not have any authority to guide India in this context. The relations with China have always been on the boil and this latest controversy will add another chapter to this dispute.
