The hair color game is going on the internet for quite some time now. First, the trend setter Lisa Frank coming out with her hair trends followed by succulent and then the Lite Brite hair colors. But now, there is a new addition to it that will probably change the whole game! It’s called ‘Fire.'
Enough with carrying the same hair color! This one will change colors with temperature and moods! And it’s all over the Instagram and has already attracted a lot of eyeballs.
Discovered by the UK firm ‘The Unseen,' Fire is rapidly becoming the new hair dye trend! The dye has already been launched at the London Fashion Week. The company has even planned to commercialize it very soon.
How Does It Work?
As its name suggests, the color changing dye works on the simple principle of color transformation due to heat or temperature change. The temperature here acts as stimuli and the ingredients of the dye react to this stimuli.
“Above a certain temperature, one of the molecule forms is more stable than the other, and so a reaction takes place producing a molecule with a slightly different absorption of light, and thus a different color… Essentially, the active part of the dye system is a complex carbon based molecule, which undergoes a reversible reaction with itself”, explains Lawren.
This color changing dye is a reversible chemical reaction which works on the principle of responding to stimuli.

Is It Harmful?
But the real question is whether it is harmful to our hair or not? One of the main faces behind the discovery of Fire, Lawren Bowker gave the information that the ingredients of the actual die were toxic and extreme irritants (if placed anywhere near the scalp).
Therefore, the raw dye was further processed through ‘polymeric stabilization.' In this process, polymers bind themselves all along the irritants thereby, making it safe to be applied on the scalp. So probably, it is as harmful as your regular hair dye, if not more.

Your Hair Color Will Show What You Feel
It is sensitive to the temperature indoors and outdoors including the temperature of the wearer i.e. if the wearer feels shy and blushes, then the temperature change inside the body of that person will also affect the color of the hair, making it red. It’s like our feelings being reflected through our hair.

Future Goals
It is a temporary dye, and the company is planning to turn it permanent and also give it exact color shifts that will include the change in hair color by merely going from one building to the other.
The company is also aiming to make the youth get involved in science and technology by attracting them towards all the cool things that science is capable of.
