According to Donna Sozio, author of Never Trust a Man in Alligator Loafers, you can make out the character of a man by looking at his shoes! For instance, a man owning several pairs of shoes is somewhat laid back. He isn’t all flashy and likes the basics. He is the one who wouldn’t go that extra mile to impress anyone. On the other hand, if a man who owns a $400 pair and wears that to work. He carries a pretentious appeal. He isn’t the one afraid of over indulgence.

Lauren Solomon, a New York-based fashion consultant, puts it this way. From the fashion point of view, men who put in a little extra effort for choosing the right pair portray how much they care about the outer appearance in front of the world.

In another instance, National Shoe Retailers Association state how men these days spend money only on athletic, moreover casual shoes than any other. According to one of their statistics, men between 27 to 35 years of age own just 2 or 3 fancy shoes for special outings that too in black, brown and burgundy color.

Therefore, a pair of the shoes, does, to some extent, portray the personality characteristics of a man. Some men even deliberately choose to wear certain types of shoes just to display a particular character. But forming a judgment by shoes isn't a great idea. Sure, the shoes can point towards a critical state of mind. But more likely it may tell you what the man is doing that day. Rather than forming an opinion of what sort of a man he could be, it might just be a regular day where he has his flip-flops on!
