How to Prepare Dhokla at Home Without any Hassle?

If you are planning to prepare dhokla at home, then it is really a great idea. You need to assemble the following ingredients to make tour project a grand success:

  • Rice
  • Urad Dal
  • Sour curd
  • Green chilli-ginger paste
  • Sodium bicarbonate
  • Asafetida
  • Black pepper powder
  • Grated coconut
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt

  • After you have successful assembled all ingredients, you need to follow these instructions to start your preparation for dhokla:
  • Rice and dal need to be soaked in water separately followed by grinding them altogether
  • Curd and hot water needs to be added to the mixture to obtain a thick batter
  • The batter must be allowed to ferment for long time
  • Sodium bicarbonate, chilli-ginger paste, asafetida and salt must be added to the dhokla batter and mixed well
  • Little bit of oil must be smeared on a tray and batter must be poured into it
  • Sprinkling of black pepper powder on top is advisable
  • After steaming the mixture for 10minutes, it must be allowed to cool

  • Now it is ready for getting cut in pieces of cube shaped 

It can be consumed dry or with ketchup or chutney. If you want to temper it, then the following procedures must be followed:

  • 1 tablespoon of oil must be heated in a pan followed by addition of mustard seeds
  • The moment seeds start spluttering, the tempering must be poured on dhokla pieces
  • The dhokla is now ready to get garnished with grated coconut and coriander leaves
