How are plastic bottles harmful?

Consuming food products from plastic containers puts you in various troubles. This is because the manufacturers of plastic products use convenient and cheap ways for packaging these products. That is the reason they prefer plastic. As a result, not only consumers are affected but also the environment is getting spoilt. It is our responsibility to protect our environment for future generations. If we keep on using plastic bottles, we are indirectly harming the lives of our future generations.

Problems in waste disposal

Disposal of plastic bottles is not easy. Shortage of disposal options for these plastic bottles is creating problems too.

Wastage of fossil fuel

In the process of manufacturing plastic bottles, a natural resource which is very limited is being used. That resource is fossil fuel. According to reports, annually almost seventeen million barrels of fossil fuel is being used. This natural resource is non-renewable. Many manufacturing plants are using this resource for producing plastic bottles.

Air pollution

Manufacturing units of plastic bottles release pollution in the environment. Pollution is disturbing the health of the people in many ways.

Harmful chemicals

A chemical named Bisphenol-A is used for producing the plastic bottles like sports bottles and baby bottles. This chemical leaches into the food substances contained in the bottle. Thus, ingestion of this chemical into the body takes place. This chemical leads to various health problems.

Hence, the usage of plastic bottles needs to be banished. At least, it should be minimized. This can be done by creating awareness about the harmful effects of plastic bottles.
