How Long does Xanax stay in your System?

Xanax is a benzodiazepine prescription drug popularly known as the brand name of alprazolam. Benzodiazepines are used as depressants for relaxing the central nervous system (CNS). To be more specific, Xanax is used to cure panic disorders and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).

Xanax augments the activity of GABA, a neurotransmitter, and reduces the nerve impulses which causes tranquility and relaxes the body. It provides calmness and relaxation, dropping the symptoms of GAD and lowering anxiety. Its functioning is quick, and the effects can be seen in few minutes.

#3. Saliva Swab Test

Just like the blood test, saliva swab test is suitable for shorter timelines.  A saliva swab can detect the presence of Xanax immediately after its consumption, but it is not effective for more than 2.5 days after the person consumed the last dose.

#4. Hair Follicle Test

Hair follicle testing is usually considered as the most accurate form of testing drug usage. Xanax can be traced through hair follicle for about three months after its consumption. It is an expensive process but is more reliable than blood, urine or saliva test. While addiction cannot be cured, emotional and physical support can fasten its recovery.
