Ever wondered how you get into a dilemma all of a sudden? It, actually, is a result of the web of thoughts going round in your mind. These thoughts do not surface out of the blue. Our life’s situations and circumstances decide the nature and route of our thoughts. We should superintend our thoughts regularly so that they don’t go topsy-turvy making our life a confusing picture. When you think of something on end disturbing your mind and body, your thoughts gain momentum. This chain of thoughts can be really distressing at times, so it must be managed at the right time. It is crucial to control our thoughts efficiently to be at ease with ourselves.
Our thoughts are mélange of different ingredients which give them a positive and negative shape. Thoughts which are complex and without any order are the negative ones which stop us from doing anything and everything. Given below are the pointers as to how you can control your thoughts:
#1. Live In The Moment
Our chain of thoughts is the prime reason why we keep on switching from one thing to another. We keep on changing our mind and lose our cool instantly when things are out of line with our thoughts. You must have noticed yourself thinking of some past event – for some, it is a pleasurable trip down memory lane but for others, it is a bitter experience and a sad reflash of memories and thoughts which hinder their progress in life. Also, this affects their both physical and mental health.
Same holds good for future as well. Thinking unnecessarily about future is of no use as it is uncertain. We have no control over the events which will come about. Therefore, without wasting our time and energy, we should accept the present and think about the things happening today instead of mentally running around back and forth in mind. So in order to control your thoughts, enjoy your present and live your life being carefree!

#2. Swap The Negative Thoughts
Well, whenever you are encountered with the thoughts that dishearten you, you can immediately think of something positive which fills you with energy. You need to change your attitude for this, first of all. You need to bring yourself to exchange your one thought in favor of the another. Only you can do it. The power of thinking lies in your own hands and you can always control your negative thoughts.
Therefore, when struck by negativity, think back to the good times you have had in your life or about the success you would achieve in future. This would promptly distract you from the unbridled barrage of thoughts.
#3. Do Not Make Judgments
Observing your thought-process is far better than critiquing your thoughts in vain. Do not judge your thoughts. If you have doubts about something, do not involve yourself in those things, or rather discuss with people who you confide in. You make judgments, you form opinions on your own – all you get is the multiplication of negative thoughts. The series of unending thoughts is terrible. It all adds up to tension, stress, anxiety, and apprehension.
#4. Stay In A Comfortable Atmosphere
The internal and external environment affects your well-being. If you feel uneasy and uncomfortable in a particular place, just go out of that place. You need not sit at a place only to give someone a good company. You need to think about your own self too. Make yourself feel comfortable, relaxed and happy. Listen to good music to recharge yourself. Go for a brisk walk and indulge in some fun.

#5. Communicate With Others
Communication plays an important role. If you interact with your family members or friends, you can easily keep a check on your thoughts. No matter what family and friends come to our rescue at every moment in life. So their advice and suggestions might run in your favor. When you share your thoughts and ideas with others, they can tell you about their own experiences and tales. You can have an idea as to how to control your series of jumbled thoughts with the help of people around you.
Also, your thoughts get simplified. There should be an open exchange of thoughts and information with your family. You can discuss things with your close friend if you do not want to tell everyone about it.

#6. Take Care Of Mental Health
Mental health issues like depression make a person really dejected. It restricts them to involve with other people and share their problems. If you do not take care of your mental health, your conception and ideas regarding all things will multiply and will take the shape of complexity to a fault.
Pay attention to yourself and be healthy. You need to do anything special; you can just have a good sleep of at least eight to ten hours so that you can relax. Also, exercising and physical activities help you charge your batteries. It refreshes you and you feel positive and rejuvenated.
#7. Know The Source Of Your Thoughts
Once you know where your thoughts stem from, you can ditch those things. There are some negative thoughts which circulate in everyone’s mind at one point or the other but we ought to see the point from where they are originating. For instance, if you feel really hopeless about your life and have a pessimistic outlook due to one failure in life, make sure that one particular failure does not decide your future. Your thoughts are the result of actions or some happenings in your life. Do not let any event in your life overpower you and your thoughts.
Yes, life’s events have the power to distract your vision and thoughts. It affects your entire thought process a great deal. Try your best not to think about things that destroy your happiness. Learn to be satisfied with what you are offered in life instead of contemplating things that are useless.
#8. Think Positive
A positive streak in life is what matters. If you do not have an optimistic attitude in life, everything around you seems muddled up. You see no light at the end of the proverbial dark tunnel. Therefore, think positive and visualize things that bring you success and joy. At times, you are really bewildered and the negative thinking only adds fuel to the fire. You should rather have an outlook which makes you hopeful.
Live with people who spread cheer and positivity around you. Keep a good distance from the people who encourage your negative thoughts. Think of good things, take your past as a lesson and make your future great with the aid of good thoughts and good work in the present.

#9. Introspect And Meditate
Brooding is important in the sense that it helps you know the real you better. When you are alone, talk to yourself and think about things that matter and the things that would have got nothing to do with you. You will get a route to escape from your thoughts and will be able to curb your higgledy-piggledy thoughts which impede any task of your life.
You can start meditation; it helps in improving focus and concentration. When your concentration is fixed, your mind is fixed. Your thoughts stay in one direction once you start paying attention to your physical health. Take care of your well-being and encourage others as well. You will notice a transformation for you.

#10. Do Not Obsess Over Things
You need to understand the fact that there are many things which cannot be controlled by us in any way. Whenever we are at leisure, we think of things that are irrelevant and meaningless. A slight curiosity, at times, gains larger proportions which end up in obsession. We keep thinking about things all day long without realizing the repercussions on our psychological and mental health.
For instance, you cannot change the course of seasons, temperament of people around you, some piece of news, etc. These things are, we must understand, a negative stimulation to our thoughts. Everyone thinks, contemplation is required, however, overflow of thoughts which lead to nowhere are the thoughts we must do away with.
#11. Observe Your Mind
People need to see how their mind works and need to create a space between their thoughts. Create internal peace. No matter how much money you have, you will end up in a state of loneliness and discomfort if you do not like things you do or are forced into doing something. Therefore you need to listen to what your mind says instead of being influenced by others. One thing you can do is discharge your thoughts. Let out whatever is stored in your mind. Do not bottle up your thoughts.

Bad in the sense that you are not giving attention to yourself. Either you are working too much as in round the clock or you are too free. Thoughts multiply according to situations. In my case, my thoughts grew in number and got mixed with my other thoughts due to my nonchalance and lazy attitude. I used to be free after my college and had no work at hand. Earlier everything was really easy and smooth but things took an ugly turn and my thoughts increased in number. This eventually affected my physical health. I ignored initially but it took a toll and it was then I was forced to control the nature of my thoughts. I took help of my mother, she understood my situation and asked me to do something. This was probably the reason I was contemplating things a lot. After a while, I started improving myself and doing things that kept me busy. Although I did not tire myself out, I just made sure I involved myself in one thing or the other. I had to kick the word leisure out of my life. I needed free time to relax but sitting idle for twenty-four hours at a stretch was a problem. This was creating problems and turning the situation all the more worse. Well, I have a cousin my age, he took a lot of pressure on him during his college years and failed in one of his semester exams. It was because he could not concentrate on any one specific thing and was going through the motions of various thoughts. He got confused and all this disturbed his mind a great deal. However, my case was very different. I kept myself occupied and thought of doing something in line with my interest. Actually, the nature of thoughts is very slippery, it can enter into the next lane in no time. So you have to clear about what you want and then think. Thinking something is very normal but creating a net of thoughts from which you cannot escape is something worth pondering about. Yes, think about your happiness, if you cannot do anything on your own, consult a therapist. Talk to your friends and share your problems with them, They will help you with their suggestions, though you will have to control your thoughts by taking care of your thoughts.
