Keeping one's head above water is something that we all strive to do in life, no matter what we do and where we are. All of us wish to keep track of our lives and direct it the way want it. At times, it becomes impossible for us to make sure that everything in our life is working out perfectly. However, the reality is that the situations may not always be the way we wish them to be. We may not have control over all the things that take place in our lives. 

But, it is essential for us to realize the fact that we always have control over the way we react to the things happening in our life. We need to understand the fact that we always have enough power to redirect our life if it begins to drift in an unfavorable direction.

Exercising your power and having enough control over your reactions towards different situations in life, are the best ways to make sure that you are doing well in life. You are doing all that is required to create a happy and bright future and not letting changing life situations overpower your patience and strength to fight the odds.

In such situations, you might feel that you are dealing with a lot of things at the same time in your life and you just can’t keep the balance. This is what keeping your head above the water is all about. It is to make sure that we do all that is necessary to be done irrespective of all the chaos that is going on in our life. 

There are times when we just cannot avoid the commotion in our lives and have to deal with it. In such circumstances, we need to make sure that we do all that is possible for us not to lose the direction in our lives and stop chaos cloud our focus in life. Sometimes, it all becomes too much to handle, and you also need to carry the activities that are important. Such situations bring a lot of stress. Here are some pointers that can help you to make sure that you are moving ahead in the right direction irrespective of all the challenges you are facing.

#1. Manage Your Time Accordingly

It is imperative to manage your time well so that you can make enough time for all the crucial tasks that you need to accomplish during the day. What is important to understand is the fact that you make sure that you are using your time properly. Every person has 24 hours in a day, and one should always keep one's focus clear to ensure that one's life is on track. Sometimes, we are not able to accomplish even the most important tasks and the things that we need to finish in a day. Such situation arises because we choose to go with the flow and let the day take charge of us. However, when we choose to delegate specific time slots to all the tasks that need to be completed as soon as possible, we can manage our time effectively. This also provides a sense of fulfillment and confidence to us.

#2. Being Able To Say No When Required

One of the things that we find difficult to do is to say 'no' to all the tasks that we do not like to do or are not the immediate need of the hour. Sometimes, we end up saying yes to even the trivial things and the ones that are not very important for us. We tend to do so because of peer pressure or other factors. However, the ability to say 'no' in the situations we are not comfortable and the tasks we do not want to accomplish is essential to run a happy life. This is also important to finish the tasks that matter to us on time and to have control over our actions even when all hell breaks loose. A lot of people are just not able to understand where their day went by because they are so busy doing trivial things that they miss out important tasks.  Therefore, it is important to make sure that you can say no to all the things that are not crucial for you. By doing so, you will feel much less burdened and can move forward in the right direction.

#3. Be Prepared For All Situations

You should train your mind in a way that you can be grounded and carry on no matter what happens. The ability to carry on even when you feel that nothing is working out for you is what is going to keep your head above water even under the most challenging situations. Some people give up quite easily as they feel that it is difficult to take charge of one's emotions and the way one reacts to situations. One should prepare oneself for every kind of situation and move ahead in life accordingly. If you are ready to face all the challenges in life, then you can very well survive even in adverse circumstances. People who can do so are the ones who can hold their life together even when everything seems to fall apart.

#4. Take Care Of Yourself

We need to make sure that we do all those things that will help us to keep our health and our emotional self in the best possible condition. It is essential to make sure that you get enough sleep, eat the right kind of food and do the required amount of exercise to be fit. You need to realize that you can deal with all the challenges effectively only when you have good health and are emotionally stable. A person who is exhausted and experiences fatigue will find it hard to deal with situations that are challenging in nature. It is impossible for them to keep their focus on the goals that are essential. They also find difficulty in handling multiple responsibilities which can lead to a stressful situation.

#5. Keep Your Priorities Clear

You need to make sure that your priorities are clear and you know what the best for you is. We need to be sure about what is essential for us, and be able to make the decision when required. When we have our priorities straight, we can redirect our life on track no matter what comes to life. It helps us to make decisions in life and get clarity in confused situations where it is impossible for us to make a decision, because of all the choices available to us. Having our priorities clear in our mind makes it possible for us to make the correct decision even in complicated situations.
