They say that trust has to be earned. But how do you know if someone has done enough to earn your trust? You can’t trust anybody you just met or someone who says that they are trustworthy. So, how? How to know if you can trust someone blindly from this moment on? Trust is one of the best gifts you can give anyone but you do not want to offer it to someone who does not deserve it. This is how you get betrayed.
#1. You Have Known Them For A Long Time
You cannot bestow your trust on someone you met just a few days, weeks or even months ago. You need time to understand the reality of people since it is very easy to make a good first impression. No matter how trustworthy someone may look, take your time to understand that person completely before you start to trust them. It is only after you have known someone for at least a year or two that you start to trust them.
#2. They Have Never Lied To You, As Far As You Know
Once a liar, always a liar! How can you trust someone if you know that the person has lied to you in the past? Can you be sure that they will never lie to you ever again no matter what? If you are, then we suggest you reconsider because people who lie once tend to lie over and over again. After you have caught them lying to you once, they can only get better at hiding their lies, but won’t change. As they say, old habits die hard and they have a habit of lying.
#3. They Never Lie, To Anybody
If a person can lie to somebody else, then they can lie to you. Before you start to trust somebody, observe how they treat other people in their life. For instance, a guy who lies to his friends or his family on a regular basis is not worthy of your trust. Truthfulness is a quality that sees no barrier. If someone doesn’t lie, then they never lie to anybody and if they do, then they lie to everyone. If you think you can trust a person who lies to other people in their life, then it is just a matter of time before you will get betrayed.
#4. You Do Not Need To Chase Them
You will never have to chase a person who is trustworthy. They will always be around, with you to help you when you need them. It is not that difficult to tell who genuinely cares for you and who is only pretending. The pretenders are the worst kind of people and you should always steer clear of them. How do you trust someone who only pretends to like you or like spending time with you? It is people who are ready to chase after you, if the need be, who are truly worthy of your trust.
#5. They Respect You And Treat You Well
Trust and respect are the two foundations of every healthy relationship and trust can only exist where there is respect. We never lie to or betray people who we respect. If someone has been treating you poorly, then do not expect that they will start to change if you show them that you trust them. So only trust someone who you know respects you genuinely. Also, respect is not something that you show just when you are with them, genuine respect is when it exists even when someone respects you behind your back.
#6. They Have Been There For You
This is one of the most important things that you have to consider before you start to trust someone blindly. Some people talk big like you are the most significant person in their life and they would do anything for you, but they are never to be seen in the times when you need them. Forget about trusting them, there should not be any place for people like this in your life and you should stay away from them as much as you can. You should only trust the person who has been there for you whenever you needed them in the past.
#7. They Go Out Of Their Way To Make You Happy
People, these days, hate to be inconvenienced for the comfort of anybody else. And people who hate to face even a little inconvenience for your comfort are not on the list of the ones who deserve your trust. People like this will never think twice before ditching you when you are in the face of adversity if it causes even just a little inconvenience to them. Trust people who are willing to go out of their way, an extra mile than anybody else to make you happy, to make sure that nothing bad ever happens to you.
#8. You Feel Ready To Trust Them
Do not trust somebody who you have to think twice before trusting. Trust is something that comes naturally. When you spend a little time with somebody, you start to develop trust in them automatically and begin to feel good by sharing your secrets with them. Also, you can learn not to trust somebody, but you can never force yourself to develop faith in someone. If you have to push yourself to trust a person, then you are making a mistake.
Like we have said before, trust is a precious thing, a gift that you can’t just give to anybody. While some people are worthy of it, some are such that you should never trust them no matter how hard they try to win it.

In today’s world, I do not think that you can ever tell who you can trust and who not. If time is the
criterion based on which you conclude if you can trust someone or not, then what would you say about
people cheating on their spouses and betraying them even after being together for so many years. If you
say that it depends from individual to individual, then what would you say about people being betrayed
by people who they trusted the most at one point? Everybody betrays you and you can’t trust anyone, it
is only a matter of time and opportunity. Yes, given the opportunity to reap benefits, even the person
closest to your will not think too much before stabbing a knife in your back.
Well, that only happens like with seven out of ten people in your life. Here is how you know if you can
trust the other three or not. The first that you have to keep in mind that that a person who deserves
your trust is reliable even in all little things. Subtle signs that someone in your life is hiding something
from you like shutting down the screen of the laptop whenever you are around or serving you tiny lies
that are not really that important are crucial signs that you should never miss to notice. White lies are
actually gateways to major lies and betrayal and if you let people get away with lying to you even once,
then you will have another, and probably an even bigger lie coming your way soon.
In addition to that, trustworthy people also have the quality of making sacrifices. Someone who is always
unable to adjust with others can never be trusted with a secret or anything. People who are willing to let
go of their ways or their happiness just to keep you happy or satisfied is someone you can put your trust
on. If you want to build a mutual trust, then you too need to make compromises every now and then so
the person in concern can also understand that you are someone they can trust.
Trust worthy people are also trustworthy of others. People who trust others typically know how
important it is to maintain someone’s trust so they try their best to keep it when they know somebody is
relying on them. That is the kind of person you should trust.
The last thing that I would like to say is you do not have to look for any signs as such. Actions speak
louder than words and if you have spent just enough time with somebody, in your heart, you would
yourself know if that person is worthy of your trust or not. Yes, sometimes we do get deceived but that is
because we do not give a proper thought to trusting anybody. We get carried away and start to trust
somebody. But a little thought about it is what is needed here. Just sit back and relax and wonder if the
person is concern has ever lied to you, to somebody else, is worthy of your trust and you would know
the answer.
