How to Let Go of Resentment?

Are you holding something against someone for a long time? Well, then you are definitely pushing yourself away from happiness. It's quite obvious, you cannot remain happy until and unless you are at peace with things in your mind. The phase that you are going through is the feeling of resentment.

Psychology explains resentment by referring to it as a feeling that one feels against a person or himself due to genuine or assumed injustice. The emotions associated with resentment include anger, grief, guilt, fear etc.

These emotions are difficult to express. But, if you choose not to express them, then, it will damage you! When you are at the beginning of a negative emotion and you to try to lock it, hide it, ignore it and pretend that it doesn’t bother you, then, there are extremely negative consequences.

During the emotion-suppressing phase, resentment becomes more powerful and overpowers all your positive thoughts, leaving you weak and vulnerable.

Here’s how you should handle it:

#1. Accept It

Accepting it can probably be difficult, but, come on, it's not like you can never run from it forever!

#2. Face It

It's essential to face your problems with a smile, and that's what makes you a better person. Concealing or staying under the rock won't help you for long, it's time to embrace strength and fight away the prejudice.

#3. Act Mature

It’s important that you do not sink in the feeling, instead, rise above it. The whole purpose of this exercise is to deal with the problems and overcome it. Be mature and take sensible decisions (free from rage and anger).

#4. Come Out Of It

It is recommended that you do not fake it. There is a reason behind it. Look, when people pretend that they have come out of it while they are still trapped in the vicious circle, the consequences are even fatal! You will still not be able to feel good! And you know you don't want that.

Therefore try to overcome it.

#5. It’s Easy To Be Negative

If you are negative about something stop immediately.

This is because it is very easy to have a negative perception, but coming over it and facing the reality, that’s the real challenge folks!

#6. Forget And Forgive

This might not be easy; in fact, for some situations, it can even be impossible. But remember, there are times when you stood at the crossroads and someone went afar just to get you out of the situation. Think of it! Similarly, try to forgive the person who has hurt you. It might take some time to completely get over it, however, sporting a positive attitude will eventually heal your mental bruises with time.

After all, this is the ultimate way to make things work and get past it.

#7. Recovery

Try to get rid of the negativity that has enveloped you for so long, unchain yourself from the ridiculous expectations and rather seek for hope, happiness, satisfaction and positive emotions. This will be a way to seek your inner soul and declutter the chaos within.
