Making progress towards achieving your goals is really difficult when the plan you had in mind does not help you in getting the desired outcome in the time you thought it would. It can seriously discourage one from his or her goals and even cause them to abandon their pursuit altogether after breeding thoughts that the accomplishment won’t make much of a difference.
Any person who thinks that there is a scientific measure of success is not thinking right as the successful people you hear and read about made it happen for themselves. All of us come close to success at some point or the other in our lives but the ones who really go over the line and achieve the success are persistent and diligent.
# 1. Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself
All of us can choke ourselves under pressure when we bring ourselves to greedy lines and keep prodding over lack of accomplishment of a set task. The thing is that we cannot possibly accomplish it all during our lifetime and the most we can do is get a small taste of how success in other fields will feel like. Once we become adults and discover the ruthlessness with which industries operate and that most of us use greed as the default setting to cope with the non-permanence of life not worrying about security all the time is hard to achieve. However, you need to understand that success is not always helming a big corporation or making big differences in the lives of the underprivileged. If you play a small role at the moment and have things going on for you in your personal life then you need to recognize this stability and nurture it further. Telling yourself that what you are doing is important and significant to you and your loved one will keep you on track with your goals and progress.

# 2. Be In Harmony With Your Actions
The easiest and simplest way of incorporating discord in your life is when you start comparing your life with that of others. No matter what people propagate, the truth that we hold the eternal power to make ourselves happy or sad cannot change. It is up to us to affirm over and over again that what we are doing benefits us so that we don’t start looking down upon ourselves and maintain our state of equilibrium. We are designed to remain at equilibrium as we are beings of nature and nature itself endorses balance. Positive thinking and being unaffected by the self-conceit of others will help you hold your course firm and not waver in the light of many changes happening around you.
# 3. Talk To Others About Your Issues
When we tell ourselves about a goal and fret about not accomplishing it, we are constantly creating ways for creative energy to pave its way inside us. Talking to others about it prevents that gap from opening up, creating a gentle pressure instead of one which eats you from the inside.

# 4. Break Your Goal In Parts
Goals are not easy to achieve, and that is why success is difficult because if it was easy everybody would achieve it. However, everything from setting a goal to laying down the course of action to achieve it has to be done in a careful and planned manner. It is often the case with people that in an attempt to outdo their peers they imagine themselves to accomplish feats that will etch their name in history. All goals have to be feasible and the ones which don’t seem they are feasible have to be looked into inquisitively till the flaw is studied. All plans and ideas originate in the mind so examining them will reveal a flaw in our thinking that sets the plan. In today’s world people who unfurl the information which is easily available on our fingertips are the ones who have realistic goals instead of ones who dream of succeeding in a fantasy world. A realistic goal is one which has elements that can be broken down and achieved as a series of steps which confirms that progress is being made.
# 5. Have Backup Plans
We understand that it is impossible to predict success but there sure is a way to arrive at some sort of certainty whether by gut instinct or by trial and error. The plan that you make and the timeline you set to accomplish the goal is not all the thinking you need to do to keep working towards the progress of your goal. People who don’t invest a lot in their thinking give up sooner than those who do. Having backup plans which are conducive to the main goal tells that you are really passionate about your goal. Success comes to those who are aware of all the possible things which can happen when they go down a certain path and still keep moving when they meet with an outcome they did not even think can happen.

# 6. Do Easy Things First
All goals have a particular structure that needs to be built for the realization of goals and a sense of accomplishment is necessary for you to stay motivated and driven. Success depends mainly on one quality and that is confidence and what better way is there to gain confidence by doing the easy things first which provides you the confidence that you have what it takes to do this.
# 7. Seek Help From Others
You may be an expert at creating small video games but when it comes to graphic designing you don’t fare that well and the project that you have taken on needs you to have cutting-edge graphics because their absence is making you think about the legitimacy and worth of this project. It is one of those projects that you have seen growing up, and you think that if anyone else contributes, you won’t be able to take full credit. However, you need to tell yourself that it is okay to seek help from others. The credit will be yours once the project is finished.

# 8. Never Lose Sight Of Your Mission
You need to constantly remind yourself why you took this up and tell yourself that achievements and milestones are benchmarks that don’t stop your journey but are a big part of it. There is death in every satisfaction as you don’t feel the burning desire to do that very thing once you have achieved what you were after. Starting your own business or going down an unorthodox path of making money is a risk but people will notice it and eventually praise it only when you have persisted with it and made sure that you never really separate yourself from it. During adversity, the charm that seduced you into creating your path becomes a terrifying prospect, but you have to stay crazy to support your crazy beginning and see it to the end.
# 9. Review And Reward
It is important to celebrate so that you can feel the happiness that comes from doing something. We become unhappy when we just think of doing more and more alienating our heart in the process. When you are taking on a big mission that will not be a breakthrough yet significantly streamline the way the industry functions you need to take pride in the thing you are doing and constantly reward yourself so that you keep getting the encouragement to keep at it. Reviewing thing with an eagle eye will help your mechanical mindset in spotting exactly the thing you need to think about and brainstorm on.

# 10. Don’t Stop
Humanity will always have enough strength to lay down pathways and then walk on them. It is so often the case with a new project or idea that seems crazy at first because it has not been talked about before or even remotely mentioned. It draws flak and ridicule from people who do not appreciate creativity, take any successful businessman or a person who made a breakthrough and learn about their beginnings and who all opposed them. Don't stop chasing your dreams.

I did not have a set goal while I was graduating nor did I have one after I completed my
graduation. My parents told me to choose a career where sky is the limit so that I can keep
enjoying what life has to offer. They gave me the lesson early on to value two things in life –
money and relationships and I knew that this lesson was important as life was trying for people
who did not share good relationships and lacked financial security. My first goal was to get a job
in a private firm which published business magazines and journals and I achieved it and was
pleased with myself that I had succeeded but a year into my job I stopped reaping satisfaction
and no longer felt the same enthusiasm and energy going to work. I had to admit to myself that
my heart was in an emotional decay and the potential I had fulfilled was not as insanely
gratifying as I hoped it would be. Now I could not quit my job and try other ventures as it would
pose a big risk to my life and that of those around me as when I shouldered the responsibility I
asked my mother to pursue her dream of running a drapes business and she quit her job. Now I
did not want to sit in a cubicle and write theories that leap in the dark about light, I wanted to
stay in the middle and feel myself working towards my goal. There were two kinds of success
really to life one was being present in the thick of things and the thing which bugged me the
most at my job was that whenever I asked myself whether or not I had a long-term goal, I got no
answer. The fundamental problem with me was that I could not see myself as a person who is
written off after one victory, I needed a string of victories so that my self-esteem continues to
soar and does not go down and under. I started setting short term goals week after week and
made progress on them an hour after I rested and came back from work. I took up squash for a
week and then badminton and then tennis but after my third week I realized I was just
experimenting with different sports when I really should be learning more about technological
advancements and tinker with stuff so that I can make something or the other click and if not I
would pass with the satisfaction that my failure was at least an attempt after gathering all the
information that was available on the subject and then try to add something to this pool of
knowledge. I changed the position of piezo-electric components and used more powerful
connectors to improve the effectiveness of the processor that would enter as a different product
in the market but the project could not take flight as I failed to make it work. Still I did not give up
and took on other things seeing failure and success both as attempts which pleased me.
