How to Organize your Life?

"Organizing life is not about perfection but about efficiency and reducing your stress along with the clutter present around. It is about saving your time and money along with improving your overall quality of life." - Christina Scalise

There are enough things that we always want to do but fail miserably. People have such hectic schedules these days that they never get to prioritize anything other than their work.

Therefore, such a schedule even messes up with the circumstances when you are organizing your life. The mayhem accumulates all over as you do not get the opportunity to make an effort. But if that is not the case particularly for you, here are some handy tips to help organize your life.

Why Should You Organize Your Life?

Organizing your life or space pertains to the environment you spend your time in and that too on a daily basis. This can be your home, your workplace and to your surprise, even your car. When you are spending most of the day in these spaces, you also need to make sure that you keep them organized. This implies, getting rid of the things that you do not want or need in life anymore along with eliminating the unnecessary stuff that just cannot move with you into the next phase of your life.

Imagine how would your need for abundance and success look like with a stained tee shirt or garbage all around? It's gross! So, exactly for the same reason is why you need to create space for improved items to fill in. Not only this, but you can also organize and allow the positivity to declutter your relationships and the emotional baggage.

How To Organize Your Life?

Does it appear like you should have had a few extra hours than the standard 24? Do you feel like your bank account number could have had a few more digits? Can your house not accommodate the extra stuff? Or do you suffer from being super busy? Do not fret. We are here to help. And here are a few ways to organize your life and stay ahead in each phase. These tips will help you unwind and create that extra space!

#1. To Organize Life, Organize Yourself Mentally

Self-determine the causes of your lack in organizing your life. For a few people, their busy schedules make organizing patterns pretty difficult. But for the other few, the lack of motivation is the main culprit. So, it is extremely important to mentally prepare yourself for a few things in your life that require being arranged in a particular order. And for that to happen, you need to make a decision and tell yourself that such a change is required.

Analyze your life and see which sphere of life needs consideration. Remember, not everything is worth the attention, but the other few might be. There are specific areas that are even more cluttered than the ones you think. Include both your personal, professional and social life to reflect upon. Start filling out your calendars. Let the calendar stay at some place where it's easily visible every day. This will help you form a schedule to organize life in a better way.

#2. To-Do List

So, now that you are mentally prepared to do the best for yourself, take this tip seriously. And I have even been advising people time and again that there is a major significance of creating a To-Do list for each of their days. With all the clutter that keeps surrounding us, it becomes pretty important to make a workable task list. This helps in effectively organizing your life along with efficiently utilizing your energy, time and efforts.

Take up things turn by turn and jot them down according to your immediate as well as least preferred priorities. Give yourself a clear direction to follow, so the situation falls into place. Memorizing everything is practically impossible. So, it is always a good idea to note down things that you may have to do now or later. Plus don't forget to include short breaks so you have a momentum which ultimately will help you in becoming even more productive.

#3. No Procrastination Please!

This can probably be the best advice but also the toughest one. Procrastination is a major drawback towards completely organizing your life. But, once you are determined enough to actually organize your life, just compel yourself to take the necessary actions. Do not let yourself to push things to some other time or day. Instead, try to get them done immediately when need be. If the task is on your priority list, do not distract yourself with the worldly affairs. If the task that you need to finish is something really urgent, break it into fragments and make the circumstances manageable. This way you may keep yourself occupied with the work, monotony gets eliminated and you also achieve your goals by giving your best. Remember, someday you will have to start from where it hurts, so why not today?

#4. Get Rid Of The Things You Do Not Require

This is the most difficult part of organizing your surroundings. But, you should also understand that it is organized to make space and have a clear vision along with a definite mental state. You will assume there are several things that you love and absolutely need. But, that is just not the truth. To organize your life, make sure that you are unbiased to determine the things you need or don't and then get rid of the stuff you absolutely don't require. While you are sorting, do not let your emotions interfere in the process. Don't feel bad for holding up to the garbage that has been collecting since ages. So, yes, you can even arrange a yard/ garage sale and sell the pile to make some monetary gains out of the chaos. You can even go and donate the items, help the ones in need and gather a few good deeds!

#5. Provide Each Item With A Home

When someone or something is in the right place, it feels like home. So, this is what exactly you need to do in order to easily organize your life and sustain those arrangements. Understand it in this way - getting lost is easy, but when you have a home for yourself, you exactly know your destination. The same happens with your stuff. Keeping your life organized also means to organize your things into proper places. So, create for all that stuff some easy-to-store spaces which are also easy to access. Just do not let these spaces get disorganized. And make sure to label them as well, but ditch the "miscellaneous space." That is a big no-no and a trap!

#6. Create A Regular Cleaning Schedule

This can be a daily, weekly and/ or monthly schedule for you to take up the cleaning activities. It not only concerns cleaning the junk present in your homes or at work, but also the virtual junk that you usually keep collecting. I know how exhausting are those cleaning days, but you have to do so in order to organize your life. Vacuum, dishwashing, getting out the unwanted stuff, arranging the smartphone memory, unsubscribing from unnecessary newsletters/ subscriptions/ emails, chucking out temporary files/ cache/ cookies, creating an offline list of passwords and so on. It totally depends on you to decide when and how you want to go about with the organizing process. You will have to take that step every once a while and stay consistent with the efforts.

#7. Need Ways To Organize Your Life? Use Your Creativity

There are several things that you can actually use to lessen your burden. Keep a dustbin near your corner so all those sticky notes that are expired or hold no relevance can go directly into it. Use colored plastic folders to organize all those loose sheets and documents according to your preferences. Have a calendar and a whiteboard right in front of you - not just at the office but also at home. Opt for color coding schemes. Establish your to-do list and dump the same on an excel sheet. Use colors as a code to demonstrate your particular tasks. This way you can easily take a glance and know what kind of a week/ month it is going to be. Delegate responsibilities to your subordinates at work or to the members of your family. Use mobile applications to keep yourself updated as to what you need to next. Do one thing at a time. Have a dual backup of your computer/ phone data. Let something from your space go in order to get the new one. Develop an inventory and make sure you are not stocking up any previous and superfluous supplies.
