Is reservation agitation by Jat's justified?

The Jat Reservation Agitation was a series of protests in February 2016 by Jat individuals of North India, particularly those in the state of Haryana, which "sedated the State for 10 days." Besides Haryana, this agitation also spread to the neighboring states - Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and furthermore the National Capital Region.

Jat’s demanded inclusion of their caste in the other backward class category, which would make them qualified for the benefits offered to the OBC people.

Thousand of Jat community people protested at Jantar Mantar on 3rd march and demanded reservations in educational institutions and jobs.

The president of the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti – Yashpal Malik said that over 50 lakh Jats from 13 states will be joining the protest. 

Jat protesters from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Uttrakhand and Punjab also asked for jobs for the family members of those who were killed in the 2016 violent agitation, also they demanded for the cases to be withdrawn on Jats and action to be taken against officers who were involved. 

"We have come here to protest against the insensitivity which the Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana has shown to our demands. We will march to the parliament with our demands," said Mr Malik. 

He said that the Jat community was prepared for a massive battle and that essential supplies are likely to be affected. 

"It is for the government to come out with a solution, but the kind of attitude the Haryana government has shown, we don't feel it wants a solution. We are ready for a long-drawn battle and this march is an announcement of that," said Mr Malik.

30 people were dead and over 200 were injured in the violence agitationby Jats across several districts in Haryana during February 2016. Government private properties were also damaged.
