The 45 Khadi objects which are approved by the Health Ministry ranges from bed sheets, abdomen sheets , dressing towels, surgeon gown , surgical patient gown to soaps , Khadi phenyl and herbal shampoo.
A total of 45 objects have been listed for circulation for the “distinctive” utilization of hospitals and independent institutes related with the health ministry.
The health ministry has asked the central government hospitals across the nation, for example AIIMS, to purchase Khadi items- from soaps to doctor’s coats and bed and bath linen – as it seeks to purchase products worth at least of 150 crore rupees.
All 23 hospitals that are working under the health ministry have also approved a list of 46 products made by Khadi Udyog, which will be utilized once the orders are executed.
KVIC –Khadi and Village Industries Commission, in the most recent 6 months, took large orders from various private and public sector companies but since the Modi government came into power, it has bagged the largest order from the Ministry of Health on Februray 16, 2017.
A board of committee which was set up last year concluded a list of some 45 products that these hospitals will be purchasing from the KVIC. While the demand of it is increasing, development in production has been lagging and has risen as a key challenge for KVIC.
If we consider the latest reports, Khadi industry has seen a growth of 35 percent compared to 1510 crore rupees of sale in the previous year. JP Nadda’s example of endorsing Khadi for healthcare staff will bring about a rise in purchase of Rs. 150 crore by the Health Ministry.
Motto behind it : “The ministry of health adopting Khadi for hospitals and staff is a significant symbol of khadi being the most natural and organic skin-friendly fabric”.

It is really a good endeavor to promote India's small scale industry. It will create a large number of employment opportunity . I also believe that by using Khadi products in healthcare centers, the government hospital can save lots on money, as Khadi products are comparatively cheaper.
Its a very good initiative made by the ministry of health for making hospitals and their staff more hygienic. Khadi is a very natural and skin friendly products thus beneficial for the patients as well.
