Menstrual cramps are like your monthly bills; they knock your door every month and give you immense pain. While we can't avoid them, we can look for ways to make them less painful.

Your painful periods can be cured with a few home remedies. These remedies can relief your menstrual cramps, and by following them, you can get rid of the period cramps. All of these are natural cures and will help you tremendously. 


We all have heard that we should not exercise or exhaust ourselves when on our period. However, that is not entirely accurate. Some exercises can be relaxing for the body and help in reducing the pain. Walking improves the blood circulation in the pelvic area whereas swimming helps in reducing the pain caused by cramps by releasing endorphins in the body. They work as natural painkillers and are very efficient. So, let’s break the taboo and start exercising

Just like using a hot water bottle or heating pad on the painful areas help in reducing the pain, so does a hot sitz bath. The hot water helps in reducing the effect of the chemicals that cause the menstrual cramps and also increases the blood circulation. 

Keeping the abdomen warm, be it by external sources or by consuming hot beverages helps in reducing the menstrual pain.

It helps in absorption of all the calcium in the body thus reducing the menstrual pains. Beans, buckwheat, salmon, shrimp, tofu, vegetables, and nuts are all food items rich in magnesium.

Papayas are very efficient in reducing pains during your periods. When eaten during or before the period is coming, papayas work as an effective measure against the cramps.

Drink loads of water during your period. Keeping your body hydrated helps in reducing the menstrual pain and also regulates the flow.

Heavy flow and menstrual cramps make you feel irritated and cranky. Triggered anxiety and release of adrenalin cause menstrual cramps. Try distracting your mind and indulge in things that you like doing. Listen to some beautiful music, watch your favorite movie, or even paint a canvas. Do whatever soothes your mind. Practicing yoga and meditation also helps in reducing anxiety and calming your body and mind.
