Do you know what capers are? There are ingredients all over the globe that can make a dish taste sumptuous and one of them is capers. The plant named ‘Capparis Spinosa’ creates a bud that starts each year in the spring which turns into a flower. That is called Caper. Actually, we should be calling the bud as ‘caper Bud.' The entire plant is known as caper plant and has varied parts. It is said if you leave the bud on the plant for weeks then it turns into an alluring white and purple flower.
And, if the flower drops down, it is replaced with a fruit a little late in the season. That fruit is then called caper berry.

The fruit looks like an olive and is much bigger than caper bud in size although it has a similar taste and its treatment is done in the same way. It’s quite toothsome though not mouth watering as the caper bud. In the country Greece, they use leaves of the caper plant in their cooking. If you wish to taste the caper buds, you must first immerse them in a solution of salt else you will find them bitter just as raw olives.
There are many kinds of capers available. The most wanted are nonpareils which are sometimes referred to as ‘nonesuch’ which are small in size around 7mm. They are also firm and sort of expensive.
The ones which are acidic are the bigger ones. Be sure to balance out their flavors and use them in a restricted manner. Also, don’t forget to chop them up if you are using them in a salad made of chicken or egg.

It is common in India in a different way. The fruits and buds of the plant are pickled. For the fish, the shatter of salt compliments greatly with it, with salmon especially. They are not alienable when it is put into bagels with nova lox and cream cheese in the New York style.
Since capers have a strong taste, so you might like to use diced green olives some times. Also, you must know that these capers have small seeds within them similar to kiwi seeds which when prickled make an appealing ingredient to add in bloody mar cocktails and martinis.
It must be noted that the right time to add capers to a dish is at the end of the entire cooking procedure. This process helps capers to maintain their taste and shape which is loved by everyone.
