What does Quality of Life mean?

We all go about living our lives and tend to start following certain patterns that we are comfortable with. Over the years these habits or patterns become an integral part of our life and start to impact our life at deeper levels. These habits and the things that we most often choose to do on a regular basis are known as our lifestyle and determine the quality of life we have.

What most of us fail to understand is the idea that all that we choose to do and include as a part of our life generally determines our quality of life. Why the quality of life we choose to live is so crucial is because, it is the factor that directly affects the kind of health we have, the relationships we are able to build, the kind of career we are able to have and the also the way we enjoy our life.

The idea of the kind of quality of life people wishes to have, differs from person to person. Even though we do have some standards to measure the quality of life people lead, what a perfect life or a life that one enjoys living is, will always be different for different people. At the end of the day quality of life is a term used to determine whether you are living a life that is full of activities and choices that help you to be healthy and happy or not. It is also about the kind of things that you are able to include in your life depending on your financial capacity. But, the idea and the concept of a fulfilling life are unique for every individual. The vision of what a successful life remains different for all of us.

What Is A Quality Of Life?

There are essentially two things that are taken into account while we talk about the kind of quality of life any person has. Firstly we take into account the things that a person is able to include as a part of their daily living, which are generally the necessities of life, the place they live in, how they commute, what they choose to wear and what kind of recreation they are able to indulge in among others. The other factor that we most often take into account is the kind of activities and habits they choose to include as a part of their life. Which are things like, what kind of fitness routine do they follow? Or do they even have one or not, it can also be things like do they smoke or drink on a daily basis? What are the kinds of things they read and who are the people they like to spend their time with?

How To Improve The Quality Of Life?

#1. Make sure you make the best of the resources you have. We all may not be extremely rich, but we can always make an effort to make the best use of all the resources we are able to attain. What this means is the idea that we make sure we are not wasting our resources on useless things which will not add any long-term or any short-term value to our life.

This also requires us to pay attention to the fact that we all at times are so focused on counting the things that we are not able to do, we do not make the best use of the resources available to us. When we start living completely in the now and focusing on what we have and what we can do as opposed to looking at what we can’t, we automatically start making the quality of our life better.

#2. We can also improve the quality of our life by cultivating better habits. What this includes are the things like, making time for exercising regularly, eating food that is good for the body, restricting yourself from binge eating and too much consumption of food that has the possibility to turn into an addiction, for example, sugar, coffee, and tea, Etc. Making sure you do not develop habits of smoking and consuming alcohol as these can possibly affect your health adversely.

The kinds of habits we have hugely determine our quality of life. A person who has too many addictions or does not have the time to take care of themselves does not have a life that is good in quality. When all the things you choose to make a part of your life have an adverse impact on the quality of your life, it will surely impact the wellbeing of your health. Thus, to make sure that the quality of your life remains good enough, you will have to ensure that you develop a set of habits that are positive.

#3. You will need to ensure you have a positive attitude. This is one of the crucial things to keep in mind in case you are looking at developing a good quality life. Even when all the things seem to work out for you, you will not be able to make the most of it or improve upon them, because with a negative attitude you will not be able to see all the good in yourself and your life. When you have a positive attitude, you do not tend to give up soon. You will be able to see the best in all the situations, and you will not compare your life with others. You will not lack self-love and self-confidence, and all of these things will always be responsible for determining the quality of life you have.

#4. The quality of life you can create for yourself is dependent on the kind of vision you have for the future and the life you wish to create. As I have already mentioned above, the idea of a good life is different for different people. This is why it becomes essential to have a clear concept of the perfect version of life for you. Clarity is very crucial for successfully attaining a good quality of life. If you fail to determine where you are going, how will you manage to go there?

When you know what a good life is for you, you will be able to work towards it and make choices that are going to help you to attain that kind of life.

#5. In order to create a good quality life, you will have to make sure you connect with people who are going to add to the good quality of life and not negatively impact you. We all are aware of the idea that we are often influenced by the kind of people we choose to spend time with. This is why we need to keep in mind the need for including people who will make it possible for us to live a positive life. When we are surrounded by individuals who are inspiring and have a positive attitude, we make sure that rubs off on us. We are inspired to take steps in the right direction and to include the right habits in our life when we connect with such individuals.

It is true that a good quality of life is all we need, it is the priority of most of the people and most of the things we all do is for the improvement of our quality of life. What we all know is the fact that the quality of life is very much dependent on the kind of financial progress we are able to make. Our financial ability makes sure of what we are able to purchase and attain. Which is what we are able to make a part of our daily life.

What we forget to consider is the idea that we all cannot only make the quality of life better by improving our financial status, there is a much more important aspect to it. We all will have to make a conscious decision regarding the kind of habits we choose to make a part of the daily life. Our regular habits are a crucial factor when it comes to our quality of life. The better habits we choose to include, the better quality of life we create.  

What a good set of habits can do for our daily life and the way in which it can help to better the quality of life is something that even money cannot do for us. Finances will help us to have a lavish life for sure and nothing can replace what it does to our quality of life. At the same time having a good amount of money and not having decent habits may lead to better experiences, but not be able to better your quality of life. 

Keeping all of this in mind, we also must agree on the fact that no matter how good our quality of life is, we all need to have mental satisfaction regarding the life we have and a set of positive thoughts to think about on a regular basis. This will make sure it adds to our quality of life.
