The religion of Christianity began roughly around two thousand years ago, and its messiah is Jesus Christ who is said to be the son of God. Jesus chose to be born in the physical realm to abolish the sins of humankind and steer them on the right path.
He was crucified for his blasphemy and hung on the cross along with two others. Later he resurrected from the dead and became a symbol that the Christians greatly revere.
What Is Good Friday?
Two millenniums back on this day a Jewish preacher, Jesus of Nazareth was crucified on the cross for calling himself the son and messenger of God. Christians believed him to be their prophesized messiah and his words were compiled to form the Holy Scriptures. Powerful figures during those times saw him as a threat while people saw him as their savior. He was mocked, thrashed and paraded around the city on orders of the religious and political figures of that time. It was the betrayal of his disciple Judas that had him publically crucified. This dark day is called as Good Friday or Black Friday.

What Does Good Friday Represent?
One would obviously wonder as to why such a dark day when Jesus Christ was crucified would be referred as Good Friday. The reason being that in Old English good meant holy and hence a better term would be Holy Friday and not Good Friday. Also, Jesus chose to be born just to absolve our sins and to prevent any further suffering; the day marks the love that the Son of God had for his people. Christianity recognizes that it is natural for humans to sin and hence to trade places with the people Jesus took birth and then died for their sins. Our sins alienate us from God and Jesus saves us from those sins and reconciles our relationship with God.
Also, the Bible connects Jesus’ crucifixion with his resurrection, and the resurrection gives His followers hope. It assures the world that He was a divine being and beyond His mortal form.
