Do you think there is a difference between a CV and a resume? After quite a search, we have been able to make out that a CV and a resume differ from each other on many different levels. Although both of them are used for job applications, CV and resumes are not always interchangeable.
The Basic Difference Between A CV And A Resume
A Curriculum Vitae or a CV is a summary of what all a person has done professionally and academically. It talks about an individual's skills and the experience he has had in the past years regarding degrees, awards, presentations, publications, and experience. A resume, on the other hand, is a summary of your education and work history. It includes all your accomplishments and skills gained at your previous jobs. They also include your objective for taking up the new job. Most job applications ask for your resume.

The Length Varies
The next difference talks about the length. CV’s are usually lengthier than resumes. A CV normally exceeds to 2-3 pages covering all your academic and professional achievements, whereas the resume limits itself to 1 or maximum 2 pages because it only includes the professional background of the candidate.

Make Sure If Your Employer Expects A CV Or A Resume
In Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, companies generally expect to receive curriculum vitae for job applications. Resumes are used lesser than CVs. Employers in Germany, Poland, Greece, Italy, or Portugal are more particular about the layouts and expect to see the photos of the applicants’ too. In comparison, Portugal is not that strict about the picture.

Don't Forget To Add Basic Information
Just like your resume, your CV includes your name, contact, education, skills, and experience. It also talks about your experiences, awards, fellowships, internships and professional associations. Additionally, CV can include your personal achievements unlike your resume and hence can be lengthier.

Make Them Both Impressive
In the case of a resume, make sure you choose the right format. Look out for sample layouts used within your industry. Make sure you write for both humans and robots. While writing a CV, keep in mind that it should act as a guide for the employer to know about your skills and achievements. Keep a check on the format that you choose too.
