Both Facebook and Twitter are very popular social networking sites. However, both of them are very different in terms of their functionality. Therefore, Facebook appeals to some people, whereas Twitter appeals to some other people.
Facebook is completely mainstream, whereas Twitter has a targeted audience.
A tweet has a shorter lifespan than an update on Facebook. Most of the engagement on twitter happens within the first few hours of a tweet. On the other hand, a Facebook update is present on the timeline of people for a much longer time and therefore, has greater visibility.
A tweet is only 140 characters, whereas you don’t have to follow such restrictions for a Facebook update.
When you add someone as a friend on Facebook, it has a deeper connection than following someone on Twitter. On twitter, you interact with people who are interested in similar topics. You can follow celebrities you admire and let them know how much you enjoyed their movie or song. On the other hand, you mostly interact with real life friends and family on Facebook.
Twitter is definitely a faster medium for important announcements and messages, compared to Facebook. It is the best place to get breaking news.
If you have a business and want to promote it, you can do it more easily on Twitter. You can build a huge following on Twitter for your business. You can’t add anyone and everyone on your personal Facebook profile as there is a privacy concern. You can create a Facebook Page for that purpose.

Facebook is a powerful social media tool which has taken the world by storm.
The key features in Facebook include fans, wall, live chat, pokes, and games. You can also upload your photographs and share the same with your friends and family. Twitter in comparison allows the users to tweet, Retweet, follow people and the trending topics.
One key difference between Facebook and Twitter is that while Facebook allows instant messaging, the same facility is not available on Twitter. While Facebook is available in 140 languages, Twitter in comparison is available only in 29 languages.
Thus, I prefer Facebook over Twitter.

Facebook allowing more options is considered more difficult to use than Twitter.

Inside of Facebook you will Like or Share something. Yet inside of Twitter you will ReTweet or Favorite Something.
You can find your old elementary friends or high school love interest on Facebook. On Twitter you can find the latest topic trending – like the Oscars, News, Celebrity Stories and more.
I prefer to use Facebook in comparison with twitter because, Facebook has more facilities the twitter.
