Brahmaputra Beach Festival is an open-air festival celebrated in Guwahati, the largest city of Assam. This annual mega cultural event is jointly organized by the Assam Boat Racing and Rowing Association (ABRRA) and the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) in the month of January. This festival is influenced from several festivals celebrated in South Indian states. 

Brahmaputra Beach Festival coincides with the harvest festival of the state, Magh Bihu.

The importance of Brahmaputra Beach Festival:
This festival is celebrated to encourage indigenous culture, crafts and popularizing traditional sports of Assam. The aim of the festival is to increase numbers of tourists in the North Eastern state.

How Brahmaputra Beach Festival is celebrated:
The Brahmaputra Beach Festival is held on the sandy beaches of the River Brahmaputra in the city of Guwahati. The city is situated on the bank of the river Brahmaputra.

Several kiosks are set up on the sandy beach of Brahmaputra River to display and sell various handicraft products made by the talented craftsmen of the state. 

The Dehing Patkai Festival 
The Dehing Patkai Festival in an annual festival takes place at Lekhapani in Assam’s Tinsukia district. The Dehing Patkai Festival is held amid the serene landscape of the Dehing River and Patkai mountain range. The festival is organized by the Assam Government. A celebration of Dehing Patkai Festival started in December 2002 in the presence of the then President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.  

The multihued festival of Assam keeps in its store unlimited opportunities for fun and feast.

The importance of the Dehing Patkai Festival:
The main objective of the Dehing Patkai Festival is to make relentless efforts to save the forest resource of Assam, protecting elephants from poachers and development of elephant corridors in the state. On the other hand, enhancing social awareness is also an integral part of Dehing Patkai Festival.

How the Dehing Patkai Festival is celebrated:
The festival lasts for a few days during the winter season. The festival provides an opportunity to the tourists to enjoy tribal fairs, tea heritage tours and wildlife safari. The festival incorporates a wide array of adventures sports such as angling, Kayaking, and Parasailing. The elite groups of people can also take part in golf during this occasion.

Moreover, trips to Digboi oil refinery and the nearby tea gardens are also organized as a part of the Dehing Patkai Festival.

Another important feature of the festival is that it organizes a tour to the Second World War cemeteries. Moreover, it also organizes a trip to the Stilwell Road, which was once the corridor to Myanmar.

The Dehing Patkai Festival includes several attractions such as cultural functions, craft fair and food festival.

The beauty of the region and the winter season is bettered by the blissful celebrations of the Dehing Patkai Festival.

Time of celebrating the Dehing Patkai Festival:
The Dehing Patkai Festival runs for three days starting on January 16 every year.
