If news reports are to be believed passenger carrying drone are soon to become a reality. In a news report published in Dubai, it has been stated that a fleet of passenger carrying drone could be flying through the city by this summer season.
This egg shaped drone will be a single passenger vehicle and will be of traditional quadcopter style. The drone will be Chinese made and will be able to carry one passenger weighing up to 100 Kg along with some minimal luggage.
The Head of Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority Mattar Al Tayer while interacting at World Government Summit pointed out that the drones will be a regular feature in Dubai’s skies.
He further told Associated Press that the idea is not only a fiction but has already been tested and will be put to use by July 2017. The Drone, a Chinese made Ehang 184 has been unveiled in a flight that took it over Burj Al Arab, a luxury hotel which is considered to be the fourth tallest in the world.
The passenger carrying drone buckles a passenger and once the destination is selected, it automatically flies off. The drone is monitored through a control room through 4G mobile internet. It can fly at a speed of 160 km/hour though the speed has been limited to 100 km/hour.
